I took this course to help myself understand & cope with sudden & tragic deaths of an unusually high number of friends, family, & acquaintances, all in short succession. Words can't do justice to what Dr. B helped me learn, but my ability to now grieve healthily and accept death as part of life is a testament to her unique, hands-on teaching style

Comment:

Professor Brenner is amazing! She's really passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Assignments include reading multiple books, writing multiple short papers, and a final group fieldwork project. The work was manageable and interesting. This class was great and I actually added a minor in Sociology because of it!

Brenner's really cool! She's definitely good at what she does which makes it fun to learn from her. She always has creative & fun assignments that really get the points across. Her weekly emails are so helpful! 2 complaints: accepts no late papers, & you're only allowed to miss 3 classes. Despite that, I'm considering a SOCY minor because of her.

Best professor I've ever had. She clearly cares about her students. She makes jokes, and understands how to teach to college students. Clearly very qualified. Seriously made me consider a SOCY major. I'd take any class she teaches.

Professor Brenner is exceptional. I knew nothing about Sociology before taking U.S. Society and I fell in love with the subject, and with how awesome she is. There are always cool field trips, awesome projects and the most fascinating reading I have done in college classes. She is certainly the best professor at AU. Take her classes!!

Dr. Brenner is the best professor at AU. I have taken every single class she teaches and have loved them all. She is the nicest, most caring and thoughtful professor i have ever had. She truly cares about sociology both basic principals and applied sociology. She made me fall in love with sociology

I've had two really good professors at AU, and she's one of them. She talks about a lot of topics, but she's easy to understand if you pay attention, and she makes you think. The textbook is also easy to understand. Her teaching style is very engaging. Take her class!

I LOVE her! This was the best class I have taken in my 4 yrs of college.She is helpful, interesting, and eager to hear what you have to say. Honestly, the only downfall was that the class wasn't longer. Her TA is also very nice and eager to help. An overall amazing professor. Do not leave AU without taking one of her classes!

Brenner is AWESOME! Extremely personable and always helpful. She has a cheery disposition and really understands the subject of sociology. It doesn't matter what you know before class, you WILL leave with a lot to think about. Also, she's big on "doing" sociology, so be prepared to get your hands a little dirty ;) Lastly, her TA was great too.

Professor was very engaging, helpful, and interesting! Definitely reccomend this class for both gened and elective. Brenner and the class material will keep you very interested and you will want to come to class. Also, it is not difficult to get an A in the class but you WILL learn a lot and love it!

One of the best professors I have ever had! Definately take this class. Not only is it an easy A, but you always leave the class having learned something fun and interesting. Classes are engaging and she always has something new planned. Lots of easy writing assignments. She is great! Definately take the class!
