hard to rate because he offers really engaging ideas on one hand but allows practically zero deviation from them on the other. he invites you to challenge him but then shoots you down for doing so. so he has the potential to be GREAT but his "my way or the highway" attitude makes him a dud, unfortunately. and I liked him! pity those who didn't.

Excellent prof with insightful ideas and interesting style. TA was absoultly terrible, and took away from the class. Good class for first time, but needs a little fine tuning. Again TERRIBLE TA.

Really enjoy the class..find the prof. very approachable and willing to explain his marking. Returns emails immediately and gives good feedback on paper ideas..don't find him arrogant at all..maybe a little quiet.

Somehow manages to combine self-absorption and an utter lack of self-awareness. Petty and vindictive, nurtures women and denigrates men. The course material ceases to matter when the prof's a total ass. A mediocre intellect, living off his diminishing testosterone and his horrific leather vest. Ugh.

Pompous and incredibly difficult. As said before, he marks very subjectively and doesn't care much about what students have to say. What he says is always right, atleast that's what he thinks. I definitely regret taking his class!

Professor Wainwright is very knowledgable about Canadian Literature. However, he is very difficult to talk to outside of class. He is unwilling to reconsider marks and is very hard on work that is submitted. The fact that he makes students submit their own work to Turnitin is an offense at Dal.

Like everyone else says, he seems arrogant.. it's hard to tell. He's not a guy that comes out of his shell often, and his Bob Dylan obssession is a bit overwhelming. He doesn't seem especially interested in students... marks very subjectively and hard.

Like others have said, he is arrogant. Very unhelpful and pompous. Makes you send in your own papers to turnitin.com, which is a violation of school policy set out by the senate. He's suppose to send them in but he's too lazy.
