Dr. Bernardo is the perfect prof to teach History of Indian and Pakistan as it is his own history. He constantly brings up funny videos of personal examples in class. It is a great non-western as his style is slightly un-orthodox and you most likely are not familiar with any of the material. This can be frustrating, but he really cares about studen

I was scared about this class because of the stories I had heard from other history majors. Methods isn't a breeze, but Dr. Michael made seemingly impossible readings interesting and was always willing to help. There's a lot of complicated readings and two big papers, but you'll be fine as long as you put in the effort.

I took historical methods this past semester expecting it to be one of my least favorite classes. But thanks to Bernardo I can honestly say it was my favorite class of the year. He really wants the students to succeed and he's very helpful with papers. Also, he's lenient with deadlines which is great because he just wants to see your best work.

He is boring, but funny. He takes a lot of bird walks and is hard to please with assignments. He's a nice guy, but the class is demanding.

Sooooooooooo Boring, no joke! Way too much info, very unclear in what he wants and semi-hard to understand! He's very nice, but no! Find someting else if you can. And never take an 8am with him!

Had to take this to meet Non-Western Req. Otherwise wouldn't have. Boring, lectures were horrible, I couldn't make myself go, and couldn't even make myself turn anything in on time. Micheal's teaching style did little to generate any interest. Pretty much a fair grader, got what I deserved.

well..i hate history...but i will say that as a professor he is a little boring in the lecture sense. but the seminars are good he leads good discussions. he doesn't take attendance for lectures so he doesn't care if you sleep or just don't go (so i don't because i don't get much out of them) but i go to the seminars and they're ok.

Do you think there is a reason Bernardo types stuff on the overhead? Maybe because if he didnt.. a million people would ask him what the heck he said/is saying.. don't you think the way he speaks is reasoning enough? And for the essays.. he basically gives you the answer! You just have to fill in the gaps and make a connection.. sheesh.. you people

Lectures were all over the place and full of seemingly irrelevant information. Types his notes on the overhead instead of saying them out lout. Never makes it clear about what he is asking for on an essay. Difficult readings. Not very helpful when questions arise.

Bernardo has an inspiration to his lectures. He makes you want to pay attention, partly because there is a lot information. Be prepared to think a lot about worldviews and religions. Lots of reading (articles/2 other books). Class was tough.. but managable. Tough grader ..stay focused and write to your highest capability and you should do fine.

Bernardo is a great guy and a good teacher. This methods class demands alot of work, largely reading in the beginning of the semester and writing at the end. However, if you stay on top of it and read most of the articles you'll find out that he's a really easy grader and should have no problem getting an A.

Funny guy, but his lectures are really confusing sometimes because he jumps around so much. Be prepared to do a lot of reading, and be forewarned- there will be pop quizzes, and plenty of them. He has a good personality, but the class itself is sometimes boring. Be sure to talk a lot in seminar.

His teaching style is something you have to get used to. Difficult to understand, random, but very willing to help. LOTS of reading, have to spend much time outside of class learning what class is about. One of my fav profs even though he is so difficult.
