Comment:
While Anne seems like a genuinely nice person, her classes are extremely tedious, consisting strictly of 3-hour lectures taken directly from the textbook. A very uninspired pedagogical approach. She definitely knows her stuff and is generally helpful. Provides a list of works for studying for exams, but be prepared for surprises as well.

Anne is really amazing, her lectures can be boring, but i promise if you can pull through each lesson, then you will be completely fine during midterms and finals. Anne bases all her lectures on the textbook, so you can get away without reading the textbook at all, but if you do that then make sure you go to each lecture and take good notes!!!

Anne is really engaging and passionate about her topics. you really need to attend all the lectures to understand the content, the text book, and google wont have all the small bits of info she gives you. the lectures are long but quite engaging.

Anne is amazing, she is really passionate about art history. All her lectures are based directly off of the textbook so it is essential to the course. Beware, her midterm is based off of 70 artworks that you will have to memorize. You will be tested on 8 artworks but you won't know which ones they are! She's an easy marker for the paper.

Taking her class was the best transition into college I could ask for. It's a long lecture, but she speaks with a smooth even pace and tone with time for you to write notes and catch the relevant points (which I recommend doing). Interesting subject matter, lovely lady, if Langara had an AHIS degree I'd definitely take more of her classes.

Lectures were three hours long but she's actually engaging to listen to and does a LOT to make the subject matter interesting. You have to have around 70 works memorized per exam but she emphasizes the ones that are most likely to come up during class so you're prepared. Really nice and friendly, obviously cares a lot about what she teaches.

Her lectures bore me to death. NEVER paid attention to her lectures because of her fast pacing, the lectures were three hours long, and because of her monotonous voice. I managed to get a good mark because I readmemorized the whole book (tedious as hell!). Don't take it if you don't want to work--unless you're a very good listener unlike me.

Never took art history, but i love it because im an artist. She's pretty clear, and what she spends titime on the most is usually what she tests you on. There's a lot of artworks you need to memorize (around 60 for midterm, 80 for final), but it was very interesting to me. Classes are long (boring to some), but Id take her again

Anne is a fantastic professor. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact you have to be extremely familiar with 70 works (yes, seventy) for midterms and final exams. I know it's associative between familiar pieces for the comparison slide during the exam, but it just seems excessive. I have taken her 3 times so I guess I should shut up. haha

3 hour class fits quite well with her style of teaching. Lectures are very clear, and often have a 15 min break half way through to help everyone stay comfortable. Participation is advised, textbook reading isn't super necessary as it's contents are the breadth of the course, nice to have for fleshing out notes, specificity, study. Generous marker

The notes she gives are pretty close to the textbook, but this isn't a bad thing. I found it helped cement the ideas in my head. You could probably get through the class wo a textbook, but even just borrowing a copy from the library would be good for studying. No slides on tests, from my experience. Take part in class discussions, it will help.

Very good Prof. Very clear on what is expected. Does review before exams. LOTS of reading. Having a science bckgrnd was wary of course but made flash cards and did well on exams. She's rather beautiful.

As a science student with interest in art history and minimal knowledge about it, I found it quite interesting but lots of reading. She gives you a works list with everything you need to know but still lots to memorize. I spent more time studying for this class than my any of my science classes and unfortunately ended up with a B+. Excellent prof

I've taken two courses with Anne and I think she's one of the best profs the college has. Lectures are engaging and she is absolutely clear about her exam expectations. She does not overload you with work and is always communicative if you need help. Fantastic. I'm taking another class with her this semester.

Excellent teacher! Very clear, helpful, cheerful and a great sense of humour, making class very interesting. She obviously loves the subject, and you can tell she thoroughly enjoys teaching. The class is text book heavy, a lot of readings, and there is a lot to memorize, but because she is such a great teacher she inspires you to work hard.

I've taken a few of her classes & all went well. Anne is an excellent speaker and I always looked forward to her lectures. She's very easy to approach and will sometimes offer an alternative archiving assignment for VGH that I suggest doing rather than the usual research paper. It's easier, and your work gets put towards something useful.
