Comment:

Dr. Panning isn't my cup of tea, but I know lots of people that enjoy her classes. She is a pretty fair grader, if you try, and make sure to read the books if she is giving a quiz on them or you won't pass. But, she also comes off very pretentious at times and loves to her herself talk. Sometimes her classes feel more like "The Anne Panning Show."

Comment:

Dr. Panning is a genuinely kind, caring and gifted professor. I decided to take her class on a whim Fall '15 and it was the best decision I've made in years. She cares about participation and requires that everyone contribute. As a result technology is banned, but this helps to foster more engaging classroom discussion. Highly recommended prof.

I found it hypocritical that Anne gives students the freedom to write what they wish until critique time. Many students felt I was misogynistic or hate-filled because I created villainous narrators & characters. When I talked to Anne, she pushed the feminist narrative on me, seeing all women as victims. After this I wrote pieces to avoid problems.

Comment:

Anne is a great professor that any and every English student should learn from at some point during their time at this school. She loves engaging in classroom discussions and is never unclear about what she expects from her students. She makes the classroom fun and is always looking for feedback from her students. She is a great professor!

She is a great teacher! Fantastic woman, and pretty easy grader. She is very very down to Earth, and if you don't like what you got on your essay, she let's you re-write it and hand it in a again. If you go to her office hours, she will go through your essay with you and tell you exactly what you need to do to get a better great. TAKE HER!

Anne is one of the best professors at Brockport. If you get a chance, TAKE A CLASS WITH HER. She expects a lot, but you will learn so much from her that it's definitely worth it. She definitely pushes you to be a better writer.

I thought Panning was funny and kind throughout the semester. She isn't afraid to tell you what she thinks about your writing, but all in all, I had a lot of fun in the class. She's a good teacher, as long as you are never late and you remember to turn your cell phone OFF before class begins...

I do not care for her. She is an extremely tough grader and she rips apart peoples writing. We are there to learn, not to be expert writers, and besides is only a level 200 class. I would not take another class with her. She is a nice lady, but way too critical when it comes to her class.

I love Dr Panning. She's funny and really helpful. I learned a lot from her and fiction wrkshp was a great experience for me. She gives good, honest feedback. She can be anal about some things though, she doesn't tolerate lateness or rudeness but those are pretty basic. Take her for any ENL class if you can!
