Says "tests are a learning experience" yet doesn't provide solutions to learn from and his marks are impossible to read. Each one is 10% of OVERALL grade so even if you learn from it it will be tough on your grade. Does NO examples that relate to the homework. Tries to outsmart the class with ridiculously worded problems.

Teaches class like he is teaching a class full of professionals. Makes up his own HW questions so you can't look anywhere else for examples. His project is just awful. Gave 3 weeks on it and half way through admitted to several typos that made it extremely hard to catch up. Only extended deadline 24 hours. Test,HW, AND Project due same day. AVOID!!

I have taken his course in Summer 2015. He gave us multiple assignments, projects, presentations. I had to spend my entire summer learning this course. His lectures were interesting, but It's really hard to get through his course. Finally I got a "B". I hoped for a better grade though!

With Appie you get what you put into it. He has office hours several times per week and offers to meet outside of that to accommodate student schedules. Expect to study at least an hour every day to succeed in the class. Attending class helped to keep me oriented on, but I felt that most of the learning was as a result of studying outside class.

I like most of his lectures, and he is such an inspiring person to learn from! I think he changed his material on the testsquizzes this semester, and if you get a not satisfied grade on testsquizzes, he offered recover points for that. But one thing I do not like is the project. The requirements changed quite a lot.

Appie is brilliant, but his teaching style is incomprehensible. His lectures are scattered and disorganized. He assigned one or two homeworks, but didn't collect them or provide solutions. Tests are VERY tough, but he is a lenient grader. He views tests as "a learning experience." I like him personally, but would avoid him for future courses.

Tough tests and project. This professor has an incredible knowledge base and does try to pass this on to his students. Even though during the summer I took his class, I felt like I lived in the computer lab, I learned not only the material of his class but also concepts I was able to apply to other classes.

He is a horrible professor. He teaches according to his own standards that makes it impossible to pass his class. His grading scale makes absolutely no sense!! The material he claims to be teaching makes sense to almost noone in class, i bet it doesn't make sense to him either. AVOID HIM IF POSSIBLE!

Dr. van de liefvoort is extremely confident in the skills of his students. he expects a lot but is always willing to help and provides a lot of clarity. i liked this teacher a lot.
