I took his class online and it was amazing. He teaches in a way that is very easy to understand even though there is a lot of information being thrown at you at once. This is a very eye opening course and you can tell he is very passionate about what he does. I would highly recommend this course.

I took his political philosophy class online. He doesn't believe in Powerpoint, so get ready to read. A lot. He posted video/audio recordings of the lectures and the transcripts, and that's all. All of his tests are essay only, so take good notes and study them hard.

Professor Melzer's class starts off slow the beginning of the semester and at first, I wasn't a fan of the class, but as it went on, it becomes much more enjoyable. He is extremely knowledgable about what he teaches and has his own flair to it. It was definitely one of the top 3 professors I have had at MSU hands down.

This was by far my favorite course and my favorite professor. Amazing, engaging lectures which were more entertaining than watching TV. Each class was like an adventure. He's an excellent speaker and a genius. Taking his class was an honor despite the extreme difficulty and preciseness of the exams and the harsh grading of the TA. You have to study

Melzer is a very respectable professor. All of his exams are timed essays, and as long as you come to class and take good notes it's not too hard to do well. It's very important to pay attention to what he says during lectures.

Melzer is respected for a reason. He has a somewhat slow lecturing style, but his lectures are still interesting and engaging. The tests are all essays, but he's really looking for you to repeat his arguments back to him. The reading isn't too important if you go to all the lectures, but it will definitely enrich the course if you can do it.

He is an awesome teacher. He really knows what hes talking about and he generally cares about what his students think. The exams are timed writings and pretty hard. As long as you go to class and take good notes you shouldn't have a problem. He is super funny and said the weirdest things sometimes too, which makes that class even better.

You really need to go to class, and do the readings. if you don't then the exams will seem impossible. Also, read other peoples notes because he says tiny details that others might pick up on. Also, his lectures are tricky to follow sometimes.

One of the smartest profs at MSU. I filled an entire poli sci cognate just with his classes. His lectures are riveting.
