I believe her grading criteria is very inconsistent.Even if you score good marks in her exam and your project doesn't execute, you will get a bad grade.....She'll silently watch ur every activity on/off class n it'll reflect on ur grades. Just 1 word for her--silent killer!! Don't take her class unless absolutely necessary....

She can teach well, but she does not follow a fair or appropriate marking scheme. Marking is almost entirely not reflective of students' understanding of course material. Her biggest concern seems to be that final grades have a normal curve, and she even expressed this concern in class. Studying makes no difference. Grades are a roll of the dice.

I feel her grading criteria is not well defined.It not not clear whether to grade from exam or project.Even if you score highest marks in her exam and your project doesn't go well you will get you fail grade.Why do we give exams,presentations,abstracts,thesis on 20 research papers,if every thing is based on execution only?

Dr. Jaekel is a competent and professional prof. Her tests are challenging, but realistic given the course content. Most importantly, SHE KNOWS the course content, and if she doesn't know the answer, she will find out and tell you. The U of W CS department needs to have more profs like her.
