Avner is a great prof! He knows how to explain the content well & always provides examples to explain concepts better. As a first year psych student, this course was not too overwhelming. 3 steps for success: go to lectures; go to your tutorials; & do the assigned case study questions in the book. Would highly recommend if you're interested in law!

LAW722 was quite easy for a capstone class. They switch the course outline of this class every semester though which is why it may have been easier for us. Easy marks from weekly assignments based on readings and guest speakers. No midterm just a 20% presentation and a 40% final. Overall very fair and interesting class.

His lectures are all you need for the 2 OPEN-BOOK midterms and OPEN-BOOK final. He even gives you time to write down his lecture notes in class, as they are not exactly posted online. Literally go to class, write down the lecture, bring those notes to midterms and final, and you are all set. Highly recommend!!

class was really common sense. 2 midterms, one little assignment and the final. very simple, final was a lot tougher though. usually open book but he puts in a couple tricky questions in the midterms, so if you watch out for those its very easy to get a straight 100 in this class with Levin

Avner is the boss-man of the Law&BM department at Ryerson, literally, he is the chair, so give him the respect he deserves. He is a very fair marker that will allow you to write freely as long as you are able to present him with a critical analysis of your subject. I don't believe he limits his students to elementary SUBJECT: ANSWER type content.

He is a bit boring when lecturing but he is very knowledgable. Tests were open book but still difficult. Essentially attend TA sessions and read and do the practice questions and you will do well

The final essay is worth 50% and is marked very critically BUT that is because the other 50% of the class marks are easy to attain as long as all weekly work is completed. I only got a 60% on the final essay and still managed an A- because I did all the weekly papers and questions. This is NOT a class that is hard to do well in.

Final essay worth 50%, marking is extremely unclear & impossible to receive decent mark. Went into final essay with a A+ finished course with a D+.. I'm a 4.0 student (Never received lower then a A- on an essay). 16 people as of now are appealing their grade for his outrageous marking scheme. Unfortunately this is a required course.. so good luck.

His first midterm was very unclear, I could not understand what he was asking for, then came the second midterm... much easier, easy final too! Him and his TA were really helpful, answered every question that I had from the book via mail even if they did not have to unless u go to the office hours.

Lectures are very dull and boring. Do the questions at the end of each chapter and learn how to navigate the textbook. Mid terms are open book but it is important you know how to apply and find all the theories in the text.

This course is a guarantee 60%, just need to make questions and summaries (2% per week). However, to get a 4.0 is not easy. He is unclear on his expectations for mid-term. Final paper is worth 26% and it is 20 pages long.. LIKE REALLY? (initially worth 20%). Overall, nice guy but unclear on his expectations.

The tests are tricky because the questions are ambiguous. You'll find yourself picking the 'best answer' because the correct one is not A, B, C, D or E. Avner could post answers to textbook questions to make studying easier. He doesn't return messages.

One of the best professors I?ve ever had. He knows his material forwards, backwards and any type of wards. Also, as mentioned before, his midterm (50%) and final (50%) are tough, BUT manageable. People are just lazy... take notes in class and read over the assigned chapters and you won?t do poorly. Also, DON'T COME LATE, and BRING YOUR BOOKS!

When I went to his class, I had 2 exams each worth 50%. Questions were tricky. He's more concerned with the applications of law rather than knowing the definitions. Do the online questions. That's what saved me after I failed midterm. Overall, teacher knows his stuff but can't handle students too well.
