A knowledgeable instructor who is caring and willing to help when asked. Awkward around students and often very opinionated. A firm marker, but I found I learned a lot when I took her suggestions for what they were worth. Sometimes seems out of touch with the media world, which makes her gender studies somewhat irrelevant.

A boring lecturer - goes into minute detail and feels it's necessary to explain things like WWII. Doesn't assign relevant readings, even when they pertain to the lecture topic; just tells you to "read the whole book". Not difficult, except for staying awake.

Most boring and difficult class I've ever been to, brings her journalistic tendencies to the history table which is absolutely impossible when she will not budge an inch on deadlines for a 10 page history essay! Highly unapproachable by e-mail.

The material in this course was boring, and could have been taught in a more interesting fashion. When I met with Barb outside of class to discuss an assignment, however, I found she was pleasant and helpful. Overall, I liked her as a prof. :)
