His tests and quizzes are on nothing you learned and are way harder. He says to use the power points and study guides but even then you will not pass, probably. I was a 4.0 student before I took him. If you want to maintain your GPA don't take him because you probably won't learn what you need to.

Comment:
His grading criteria is totally frustrating because you have to earn your grade. You won't have your full grade until the end of the class. At the end of the class you have 0, but the total number of points is more than 1000. This is so confusing and I think it's a very bad type of grading. The average score of in class test was 102 out of 150.

Barry is a nice quy, but the course was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. His lectures are too broad, while his quizzes that are every two weeks were very hard and he doesn't give you enough time for the quiz. It is 50 minutes for 30 questions that include some calc and graphs. Two tests that are super hard especially the one in class.

One quiz and some learnsmarts weekly. Quizzes are extremely hard. You have to read and fully understand the text and even then it's unknown if you'll get 100%. He offers outside help, which is nice. Papers are long and very broad, unclear rubrics. Grade heavily based off of quiz grades (out of 40, 20 q's 20 mins).

You can tell he loves Economics by how he teaches and discusses the material. He is very bright and delivers the class material at a level that allows students to understand it and relate current events to it. He is there for you benefit and will do everything he can to help you achieve a good grade. If you struggle with econ, take his class!

This teacher believed in opportunity, was passionate about his job, and knew the stuff he needed to teach to the class. The work was a lot, but it was an easy amount. In addition, half the people on here had probably taken both the Macro and Micro which was 10 credits. That much work for 10 credits is a fair amount. Including honors.

He answers emails very fast, and won't give you too much homework. His quizzes are easy than Lothyan's exams. He requires every student to submit a twelve pages paper at the end of the quarter. It sounds scary, but you will get a good grade as long as you follow his instruction. If you need ECO 201 & 202, Kotlove will be a good choice.

I took Eco form Kotlove and Lothyan. For me, Kotlove is better than Lothyan even though he required every student to submit 12 pages essay at the end of the quarter. His quizzes are easier than Lothyan's exams. Eco online class requires you to by yourself. But if you have any questions, you can email Kotlove. He responses emails very fast.

Although this class was pretty challenging, I ended up liking it. The structure to me is very organized. It's one quiz, some Learnsmart work, and a discussion each week. Because it was online, I did feel the disconnect from the teacher but I still ended with a 3.5. The essay at the end of the quarter was too much though omg

Do not take this class with Kotlove. He does not do anything for 10 weeks then supposedly grades a 12-15 page essay in 2 days! Haha. Anyway, the lowest score on the essay is 240 (80%) so if one does well on quizzes, which are textbook publisher written, this is an easy 4.0. You won't learn anything, but that does not seem to be the point.

He gives too much work on Learnsmart, discussions, and quizzes. We need to write a very long essays at the end of the term, and the instructions are not really clear.

Basically, there is one quiz per chapter but not easy by any means. It was a lot of reading to me but I HAD to read in order to understand the material to the best of my ability-no shortcuts here. Barry is helpful if you seek it. There was a massive paper at the end that basically shows him whether you actually paid attention, but decent grading.

He is a very good professor. He is interested a lot in economics, and knows the material very well. If you enjoy economics, you'll enjoy this class. His quizzes are all online and you'll find it not really hard with open book. Best Econ teacher!

The online course is difficult and I'd suggest taking it in person if you're able. If you do take it online, the prof comes across really stern but if you meet with him, you'll find he is super nice and actually wants to help you and make sure you understand the subject. Ask for help if you need it and the class will be a lot easier.

Easy if you do the work. Teacher was always helpful and my questions were answered on time. Homework, weekly quizzes and essay is what you are graded on. If you do all the work and ask for help when needed you will do good. All quizzes are multiple choice and can be difficult if you don't understand material. If you need help ask, teacher is great.

Barry does a good job and provides a structured online class that is challenging, but not too difficult. His expectations are reasonable, his direction is clear, and he responds to questions quickly and thoroughly. He also has graded this class on a slight curve which is very helpful.

I took this class online and only recommend it online if you are VERY organized and have the time to commit to it. There is a lot to learn and the concepts can be difficult, so it's important that you actually study the terms. One quiz, 2-4 DB's, and 1-2 homework modules per week. Barry was helpful, answered questions quickly, and grades fairly.
