He gives amazing lectures that really make you think. There is no textbook. He brings in a lot of amazing guest speakers. His Exams are take home but he is a tough grader. You can do well in this class if you give it effort.

I will miss this class long after I graduate. He cares so much about each of his students and he can't help adding important life lessons into each lecture. Take his class and pay attention, you won't regret it. He's an amazing professor, but also a great inspiration no matter what your major is. Writing heavy? Yes, but because he WANTS to read it.

Dr Holden is an amazing professor. He cares about his students. He gives amazing lectures and really gets into the topic. You leave his class feeling like you have actually learned something. His exams are a little much, but if you watch all the films and do all the readings- you'll be fine.

He cares about his students and the grades they receive. Has extra credit opportunities. Have to read a lot, but the reading has been so helpful to the lectures he gives. You can tell he really loves what he teaches, he gets into his lectures. He encourages participation and makes sure students feel comfortable in the class. Highly recommended.

Brett is one of the greatest guys you could ever meet. I took his Intro. to Film course as well as his History of Film course and he knew the material real well. He critigues your knowledge of work in your papers as well as your grammar so you become a better writer. The workload is a bit much, but you take away a lot from what Brett teaches.

Excellent class and great facilitator! I loved the introductions to each weeks film, I just wish there had been more time to discuss the films we looked at other than the one other class each week. The class has a lot of writing (essay exams) but I enjoy writing so it was easy for me. Just don't use your cell phone during the films!

Good teacher, but appears to think VERY highly of himself which can get annoying. Really passionate which is nice, but it gets old. You learn some cool facts, but if you had a decent high school history class then a lot of the material is predictable/not new. He tries hard so I'll give him credit for that, but seems a little condescending to me.

The project and all exams are in essay form. He's passionate about the subject material and will push you to excel. You cant BS in this class. No textbooks are used, just a single paperback. He tries to relate to his students. Discussion questions are sometimes vague, so you wont know what he really wants. Worthwhile experience.

Greatest Proffesor you'll ever have. He reads every word you write and acctualy cares about it. He is a tough professor, not to be mean, but because he holds the subject--and the student, to a higher standard. An amazing prof, everyone should be lucky enough to have him at least once.

Very knowledgeable when it comes to class topics. Always willing to listen and help students with problems, even if they're not class related. Knows how to relate material to students and makes sure they learn. He's tough, but fair.
