Comment:

Extremely liberal and opinionated, which she will share with the class. However, it makes her class interesting and bearable to sit through. She is not a good teacher though and has very little grades. There is only a midterm and final so this is a very easy class if you do well on those two tests.

Comment:

Dr. Riden teaches an interesting class. Everyone saying that she is a feminazi must be very right wing. She does voice her opinion about current events, but she also includes the other side. Dont skip class or you will fail her tests. Very few grades, no study guides/PowerPoints are posted. But she teaches a very interesting class. Just study hard

If you are a straight white Male do not take her class, you will not do well no matter what. She claims to value opinions, but that is only if yours align with her highly liberal one. I would not recommend her at all. I only received a B because I argued that my test grades out weighed anything else she says by pulling up the syllabus.

She grades harshly, and if you do not specifically state what she wants, you are wrong. She does not help anyone, and told her students that we are not excellent, so we will not receive excellent grades. She goes off on too many tangents, and does not stay on topic.

A nice woman. Tends to rant sometimes and go off topic but all in all she gets the information across. Tests are not hard if you review the material. I did not need the textbook for this class. She will ask you to participate but she tends to talk most of the class.

You either like her or you don't. She is very opinionated, but does a great job at keeping her teaching neutral. She doesn't count absences, but will send a sign in sheet around to keep tabs on those who don't come. Book is optional, but reading made understanding the lectures easier. Come to class, take notes, and study efficiently, you'll pass.

She's not a professor that's for everyone however, if you read the text book and take solid notes on her lectures you'll be fine. If you're very conservative some of her rhetoric in the class might make you uncomfortable, granted you're more than welcome to discuss if you can back it up. Overall, she's not the greatest profesor, but not the worst.

She is very hard teacher. If you do not attend her class, then you may fail her exams. Which I attend everyday in her classes. Must read book or you can fall behind. In lectures, she is can be hard to understand. I recommend that you should not take her if you tend skip classes, do not read every page in book, and must ask questions (don't know)

Make sure you read the book. You could not go to any classes she has read the book and pass the tests. That doesn't make up for group projects or their assignments she might assign in class but she hardly ever does.

Dr. Riden spends more class time preaching her own beliefs and belittling others instead of actually teaching the subject. We didn't use the textbook in class, but you'll need it to study for tests. I went into this class very interested in learning about Sociology and ended up disappointed.

Literally. The. Worst. Professor.... EVER!!! She does not even teach the subject that is assigned instead she talks about personal struggles and opinions. She is a flaming LIBERAL and is unprofessional in dress and conduct. I retook the class and earned an A+ with another teacher and actually learned sociology, something she never even talked about

She's a really great and nice teacher. She's extremely liberal, but she loves arguments. So if you speak your mind and back it up, you're golden. She's also very willing to help students. Be sure to copy both her notes AND take notes from the textbook.

Do your work well. Do your work right. If you have an opinion express and back it up! Many people complain about her being pushy with her beliefs, I would argue she expresses her beliefs and if no one challenges them that is their problem, you cannot complain if you don't make a stand on your own beliefs.

ly do not know. Tests were not too hard, but she grades WAY too harshly on papers and the essay part of the tests. Make sure you study for the quizzes and read the book. Good luck with her, and I would suggest just taking the classes you HAVE to take with her and that's it.

I took this class online. She wasn't clear with expectations of the class, some of the questions on the quizzes weren't in the notes or text. For the online class you don't really need to read cause most of the questions are in the lecture, but make sure you take notes from those!

I really did not like her class. She is extremely biased in her lectures-she never presented both sides to an argument. Her assignments were confusing and unclear. Also, they were often just busy work with no real point. She goes off topic a lot in completely random stuff and is hard to follow in class. I would not recommend her to anyone.
