Carla respects effort more than product. If you do not show that you care, you will not earn her respect. Just do the work and listen to her advice. If you do not follow her suggestions, just have a solid reason why and she may agree with you. Her love for art is inspiring. Nonjudgmental and approachable, she will help you improve if you just try.

Had her for 3 years during MFA. She is tough and honest! Which is great for artists to understand what they are doing. Most artists don't know what they are doing. Carla shows them what they are doing so the student can come up with their own concepts & forms that Carla already sees. She worked tirelessly editing my thesis paper. She's AmAzIinG!

LOVED HER!! She really gives you individualized instruction. Her critiques are genuine, she doesn't just pet your ego. She gives her honest opinion but does it very tactfully. Don't expect an easy A. You gotta work!! :)

Carla is an amazing professor. She offers great feedback and criticism to everyone, but if you put in an effort to communicate with her outside critiques, you can learn even more from her. She's always polite, but isn't afraid to tell you when something isn't working. She's scatterbrained at times, but she's extremely intellectual.

Had Carla for 3 very important classes. Constantly inspired (and driven crazy) by her! She's scattered and loopy, but a wonderful and caring teacher. Don't expect a structured class from her, but definitely expect to learn and love art!
