The material in this course was fantastic but she did not test you on your knowledge of the material, but rather your ability to memorize summaries of research articles. Took this class because I was interested in developmental psychology but she turned me away from it. Questions on tests are unclear and unfair. Would not recommend her.

One of the best classes I've ever taken, and learned from! Being forced to read and summarize academic articles forces you to get good at it,which is a very important skill! The tests are long, but aren't hard if you've done the readings and summaries. She's a little intimidating at first, but is actually very nice, and an amazing researcher!

Not sure what she's like for 3050 but the research experience course (4070) was pretty easy with her. Barely had class and when we did, it was basically a free class to work on the labs. She is very good for re-weighting your marks if you show improvement. In my opinion, if you want an A without doing a whole lot of work, take this course with her

There are 1-3 articles/week to read and summarize. Familiarize yourself with these, they are needed for exams. Textbook not needed! Pay attention in class and study all the readings, you WILL do well. She wants her students to succeed. (BTW reading 1-3 articles a week is nothing. If you can't handle it, don't do a psych degree.)

Insane amount of workload. For this course (online) it is required to read the textbook on top of online 'programs' there was 24 programs and each program has an hour long video with it. Final exam is essentially 24 hours of videos from the 1980's plus all textbook material. No contact throughout the semester. Midterm worth 40% and final worth 60%.

Dr. Peterson is great! She puts her notes online but you must go to class to get specific examples and studies to use on exams. Exams are very fair but very long. TA's are the worst part because their grading is inconsistent and they think everything is plagiarism. Biggest thing is to relate concepts and studies to relevant theories.

She's a brilliant researcher & knows a lot about the topic. However, the course could be organized better. A lott of assignment & summaries due! Lots of reading to do each week but that's what her tests are based on.. Going to class is important cause her notes are sort of all over the place. TA's do almost all marking & they mark so hard!

I wouldn't recommend. Three months & ZERO contact with Dr. Peterson. The notes were helpful but the lectures are really out of date & a nightmare to get through. There are some topics which cannot be covered effectively if you're disregarding the last 2-3 decades! That said, if you study the text & the notes it's not hard to do well in the course.

Insane workload. 15 article readings and writeups that take forever but are essentially worth nothing. Midterms are impossible to finish, and she says this in class prior to the midterm?! DO NOT take this course with this prof. Developmental Psychology is really interesting but this particular prof and course ruins it.

AVOID at all cost! This course is an excessive amount of work for little reward. 1-3 article summaries due per week (most articles 10+ pages) and the summaries are worth less than 1% each. Openly states that "students most common complaint about my midterms is that they are too long." Almost no one in my section finished the midterm.

For a distance course, she was terrible at responding to emails. Apart from that, an absolute delight. The material was engaging, clear, concise and made for a good read. As long as you read both the online notes and the tex book, you'll obtain a good mark.

I couldn't access the online portion of the course when I did it through distance, so I e-mailed her and waited...and waited...and waited. Dropped the course after 2 weeks. Still waiting on a reply.

Thought this was the worst psychology course. Notes and Text chapters contain different material. The wording of the exam m/c questions make them harder then they need to be.

Her tests are a refreshing change from the norm, she doesn't expect students to remember details, she just wants them to understand the key concepts. She can be a little bizarre in lectures; it's kind of overwhelming for someone who isn't terribly interested in the subject matter.

She has to take the longest out of any of my profs (present or past) to respond to emails. I did this course by distance and she does not make it one bit fun at all. Theres no communication between people taking the course, or with her, no discussion area or anything. The tests were okay, but only a midterm and final (40% and 60%).

Same ol same ol... lots of M.C. short answer Qs were just that..short as in "list 4 ..." so like 4 word answers kind of thing. I did it by distance so there was a lot of reading and the videoed lectures were from about 1975 and could put you to sleep... overall not a bad course just a lot of stuff to remember

Great prof. Knows all of the material and is a world leading voice in the field for child development, construction of autiobiographical memory linked to literacy skills. Presentations, two articles must be read for each class and a quiz on the articles. The quizzes and presentations are easy and keep you focused on the material. Awesome prof!!!

Her tests are a little different but I actually liked them. She didn't require you to memorize little details from the text but was looking more for broad understanding. There is a nice bit of reading I guess but she makes it clear what's important to know. Overall, pretty good prof!

There is a lot of material to cover in the distance course (half of the exam material comes from the textbook and half from 24 videotaped lectures). Howver, her videotapes are good and she is a fair marker. If you do the work, you should do well.
