Brilliant Professor. Not for the light of heart. She demands a lot. You will learn a lot if you put the time and effort into this class. I recommend her classes only for enthusiasts.

Comment:
Unrealistic expectations. Her lectures are a bit aimless and hard to follow, and she expects you to know every last detail about anything she may (and oftetn times may not) mention. Tests are unpredictable and frustratingly diffecult. Avoid like the plague

Very hard grader. Expects you to know every useless little detail on exams/paper. Don't be surprised getting Ds on exams. She's crazy about grammar...so if your grammar isn't good, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! If you do take this class, read the books because her poorly-organized lectures come straight from the readings.

Comment:
Excessively meticulous about spelling and grammar, even on in-class tests and essays. Has unrealistic expectations of students, claims all time should be spent in the library except for sleep and meals. During office hours suggests greater time in library. Individual tests cover between 400-2000 years of history, and she expects details. Avoid her.

Only take a class from her if you love the subject. Definitely old school. I enjoyed this class, but it was a ton of work. If she writes it on the chalk board, write it down and memorize it for the tests. Do not get the date wrong or mispell it. This class represents what I thought college would be like. Tough.

Professor Nelson is straight from your grandparents history class in 1950. She is really helpful when you need it and is overall very nice. She is very demanding and takes writing and spelling into account on all exams. An overall very challenging class, but worth it for some students with real interest.

If you like listening and taking notes and can stand it, then take this class. She's old school, but nice and helpful if you need it. I started out doing bad on the tests but got better as I went along and never got a grade lower than a D. It just takes getting used to. If you do the bare minimum you'll get a D or C. No powerpoints.

Terrible class, I would not suggest it to my worst enemy. The test are random words/places that she may have mentioned once in class, then you are asked to write an essay about it. If you want a solid D, then this is the class for you.

Comment:
assigns excessive amounts of reading, much of which you don't need. She counts down for spelling. Class is just blatant memorization of chronological events. Shes way oldschool. No power point just and outline she writes on the chalkboard. Hand drawn maps suck. Tests are hard and unpredictable.
