waxman does tend to ramble but he knows what he's talking about and he's a really nice guy. honestly though, lecture and recitation are both kind of pointless because the midterm (and hopefully the final?) were straight from the textbook. extremeley interesting material though and VERY easy A. i highly recommend this class.

Here's the deal with Waxman...if you want to do good in this class do not go to the lectures, only recitation, and read all the chapters on your own because the lectures are pointless to go to especially with his irritating voice that i cannot stand..i read the chapters and got a B+ on the midterm..pretty easy calss if you read on your own.

I have never attended a lecture or recitation, and got an A on the midterm. As long as you read the book and take notes as you read, you should be fine. His lectures are very boring and he even turned off the lights so people could sleep. He can be a very funny, but not that helpful.

I had Prof. Wxman for Intro Soc, Soc of Religion, and Topics in Sociological Analysis. I took the latter because of his Intro course. He is a deep thinker and a wonderful lecturer. He regularly challenged my to think and stimulated me to major in Soc and hopefully become a sociologist.

I guess he must suck for intro, but i took sociology of american jewish religious movements with him and he was awesome. I wanted to go to class everyday, even without having any prior interest in it.
