Dr. Chappell is a great teacher. I had him ten years ago, and almost every day now in my own college teaching I use knowledge he imparted to me through his lectures. His style isn't "slick," but he's a smart man, and he knows what he is doing. He has gifts to give you, if you are smart enough to accept them.

Although it is very true that Dr. Chappell's classes can be extremely boring and uncomfortable, I admire his extreme pop cultural sensitivity. He once introduced a film clip saying, "It features a young Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor before she discovered carbohydrates."

Alright, so he does ramble a lot and get off topic more than he should. That doesn't change the fact that when he does stay on topic, he's one of the most informative teachers I've ever had. Still, I'd only take him if it's a reading list you really like.

While Dr. Chappell's voice is perhaps a little monotonous, he is a kind man who does like what he does. His small jokes are funny in a "Man, I can't believe he said something that corny" sort of way, and his tests aren't too hard if you study, but you should definitely proofread your essay a few times before submitting it.
