He is so adorable and I love the class style of reading, like 10 pages or less, and then he talks about it in class and you just have to listen. He is interesting and funny. My tec is the best one so take it. He always gives short and easy writing assignments. Read and take notes and you will ace your tests.

Dr. Schmidt is an okay professor. Don't take him expecting an easy A though. The material can get pretty confusing and he often moves through it really fast. He also is pretty bad about partial credit on tests, so it's SUPER hard to get an A on tests.

Comment:
An archetypal professor, Dr. Schmidt is an intensely cerebral and occasionally inscrutable man who has an extremely dry sense of humor. He might bore you to tears in the beginning, but he grows on you and eventually becomes one of your most likeable professors. Quite possibly the most intelligent person on campus.

Had him for Journeys. Very smart guy, but didn't hold my attention and wasn't as approachable as I had hoped.

If you have Schmidt for Journeys, congrats; a lot of your friends will have far worse situations. He has a great sense of humor and is a very lenient grader. Class discussions aren't exciting, but if you keep your ears open and try to look interested, you'll do fine. Also, he has awesome sweaters. And he'll eventually bring you donuts.

His dry humor was pretty entertaining and was able to really simplify otherwise complicated material. Attendance is pretty crucial and the tests were easier than expected because he gives very helpful guidelines for studying (basically test questions). Papers were difficult. Wanted specific answers for broader topics.

Had him for Journeys. Nice guy. Pretty funny. Turned in a paper late because I was sick and my computer crashed, still got an A = Very understanding.

He takes papers seriously, but gives useful commentary. He's lenient about paper length. It is acceptable to write a paper that is either longer or shorter than the assignment, as long as it is a good paper.

Schmidty! Alright teacher, hilarious guy. So dry and witty. He would smoke cigarettes with us after class outside Raney. Bonus: Looks like Ray Manzarek from The Doors.

Professor Schmidt is a cool and engaging professor, but very demanding. Getting a good grade on the papers he assigns is a tough job. The tests are not too bad, but you definitely have to study hard for them. He definitely will not hold your hand through the material, and he is not always clear in what he wants you to find in the works you read.

Dr. Schmidt didn't seem to have much interest in teaching Journeys. He knew a lot about Plato and whatnot, but there were some subjects (like Christianity) where he just didn't seem to care. His tests, while not easy, are not too hard, and he isn't too strict on grading essays.

Comment:
Dr. Schmidt is great in 19th c. phil. He's very into it, and explains the material well. Yeah, lots of Hegel at first, but don't worry Marx is up next. Phil. of India, however was one of the most uninteresting classes I've had. There was no discussion, and even Schmidt looked bored throughout class.
