Dr Lilley was a fair but difficult professor. Yes, one had to work hard, but then it was college after all.

Very hard, he wants you to listen instead of taking notes, but his words are incomprehensible. His tests were fair, but the mid-term and final were IMPOSSIBLE

Dr Llley will prepare the student for studying in a four year university. He's not for the lazy student. I stayed ahead of course reading and asking pertinent questions during lecture it slowed him down enough so everyone in class could keep up. I also took his honors course It was way beyond Hard proudest "A" i've ever earned

Took Civ I with him. He HATES it when you walk in late, which IS rude. A bit arrogant, but a good lecturer. He knows his stuff. I didn't care for HIM, but he's a good prof.

Professor Lilley was a good teacher, in my opinon. He is hard to get through, but if he likes you he'll help you out. He is very knowledgable and intellectual. All I would say is that if you read the texts and the articles, and participate in class, you'll be alright.

I do not recommend this professor. It is the hardest class I've had out of 3 years at NVCC. He is a really cool dude, but the exams are hard and he rambles alot. If you are a bookworm or love history, he would be wonderful. But if it's just a history requirement (like for me) there are alot more fun and understandable teachers to choose from.

SOOOOOOOO HARD! I would never recommend taking his class. You have to ready EVERY WORD OF EVERY CHAPTER just to try and get a grasp at what he's even talking about. And his notes.. DONT HELP! He doesnt give you any time to copy them down.

Dr. Lilley is humorous and very knowledgeable, but he does have very high expectations of his students and is strict with is policies. If you have no problem keeping up with reading and doing assignments, I'd reccomend his class, but as another person commented, I would not reccomend his class for immature or first year students.

He is a very passionate teacher. He knows what he is teaching. Only thing is that you constantly have to read books and articles but if you pay attention and do the work (he practically gives you the answers if you listen) you'll pass his class easily. And his stories are hilarious as well as his sarcasm.

He knows what he's doing and assumes his students do as well. Lots of study required to get a good grade. If you like to learn, take his course. If you're just looking for credits, steer away.

he talks too fast. rambles on. changes slides too fast. interrupts class if someone is late by giving them the death stare all the way to their seat. JUST DON'T DO IT!

Different teaching style, not recommended for first year college students. He should only be teaching experienced college students. A lot of reading and learning on your own from the book. All he does is lecture and tell stories, he'll give you a study guide with questions but that's all.

This teacher is the worst. He makes class disruptive when he points out the things that are disruptive to him. He is belittling, rude, and usually in a bad mood. His tests are hard and are impossible. Not one person in my class feels confident before taking a test. I would have switched teachers if I knew he was like this.

This guy is both the hardest and worst teacher at NOVA. I studied my ass off for every exam and I was still clueless on many of the exam questions. I got a C and worked hard enough for an A++++. FYI I'm a history major that graduated 5th in my class. I never made a C in my life before this ****. Run, don't walk away from this class.

Dr. Lilley's History 101 course is what a college course should be like... study, work and get the grade you earn. The material is dry, and there's alot of reading. He makes history interesting. Do what he asks and you'll get a good grade. He is very intelligent, and very helpful. I really enjoyed his class.

I'm a really lazy aprocrastinator. I have a 2.4 GPA. Take it from me, even though his class can be difficult you how no idea how EASY it is if you just do the freakin' readings and pay attention in class. He makes class fun & the ones who don't like him are probably way more lazier and stupid than I must be. I recommend him if you're not an idiot.

i have to be honest this class is tough on most of the student and this professor makes it even harder. he's lectures are so confusing and very hard to follow and his exams contain a questions that no one knows where the they came from, unless you have two brains there is no way you can follow him and take notes...NONTHELESS, an A is doable.
