VW'd this course because of the professor. Very kind lady, but as a prof, AVOID. Does not upload any notes, which would be fine if notes in-class were organized, but they are all over the place and difficult to follow. Very anti-technology and examples seem outdated. Her class requires a textbook she wrote herself. One of my 1st-year mistakes.

Dr. Albas is overall a very nice lady. Her class follows the same basic rules as every other class; that is you have to put in the time to do well. Anyways, lectures COULD be a bit dry depending on your own personal interest on the topic. If your readers and make notes on the textbook (like I had done) you should pass the class with flying colors.

Comes across as a very nice lady, but terrible as a prof. Notes and diagrams are all over the map and very difficult to follow. Required readings don't line up with lecture material and she tests material from a textbook she wrote herself back in 1984.

Very nice and funny. She is defiantly a caring and kind lady and very hard to dislike. However, she repeats herself a lot, goes off topic and is very boring to listen to sometimes. Lots of textbook reading which is hard because it is very dry. Notes are cumulative however I didn't find them very useful for the tests. Overall I was not a fan.

VW'D this course because of the prof. Loves the course but was not a good prof whatsoever. Her lectures make no sense and are so unorganized its difficult to concentrate and keep focused. She also talks a lot with her hands and its annoying and difficult to pay attention. Would definitely not recommend this prof, she is there to trick you.

She seems to be a good person but really she makes no sense and almost seems like she has no idea what she is talking about. She is not in tune with the world and how it is now. Tests are brutal because it is 30 questions of "WHICH ONE OF THESE ARE FALSE." She refuses to use technology which makes the notes even worse. Worst prof I've ever had.

She uses examples that are so outdated, that it really seems over the top sometimes. She's nice, but seems quite out of touch with how things are socially. Her lectures are quite boring in general and her tests are challenging. Hearing her in class is like hearing a grandmother speak endlessly about boring stories about her life.

She is a very sweet lady but her lectures are all over the place, the syllabus doesn't help much other than the readings and she is very unclear as to what you must know for the tests. The class notes are cumulative... Defiantly the hardest class I've taken, do not recommend at all with this professor.

Easily my favourite prof! She always made it very clear that she was more than willing to answer any questions. There is only one assignment in throughout the whole year. Make sure to get her to proof read it every now and then, because she is super picky. All around though a very approachable prof and down to earth prof.

Very nice lady but is all over the place in her lectures. Writes her notes on the board and class is hard to follow. Tests are multiple choice, 5 answers pick the false statement. Questions are designed to be difficult and trick you!

Made comments regarding emotional disorders that alienated me - I had just returned from leave to take care of anxiety disorder - and didn't listen to my complaint. Also completely clueless about other -isms, which is something sociologists should get if they want to be good in their field. Head up her ass. Don't bother.

I love her!! I love that she writes her notes on the board and as long as you know how to write good notes, everything is crystal clear! She reminds me of a mother goose, she is just loving and really wants to help so everyone gets a good mark. Don't be afraid to ask questions! My favorite prof at the university so far!!

I am taking Dr. C. Albas Intro. to Sociology and I find her notes all over the place! It is really hard to follow along. When you first start studying for her tests you may think that it might not be that hard of a test but it is! Her testing is so different and she tried to trick you. I became very annoyed with her teaching.

Her class was loads of fun to attend. Her tests can be a little bit annoying, but as long as you study and pay CLOSE ATTENTION to the questions, you'll do great. She did an excellent job explaining the various concepts, and provided me with a solid introduction to the field of sociology. Make sure you read the texts!

I really liked Dr.Albas. I will concede her courses are not easy, but she more than makes up for it with her helpfulness and approachability. Treats you like a human and intellectual and will help you grasp course material. I highly recommend this professor. Avoid DR fries though he is the worst prof at the university of manitoba

Lectures were often a bit tough to follow, and personally i had difficulty connecting the various topics (probably my fault though). Requires more definition memorization than i was accustomed to, but she was always eager to answer any questions, even as the exam was being handed out!!!

Love this lady so much! one of the sweetest and nicest people, genuinely wants everyone to do well. Keeps lectures interesting with cute stories that relate to the material. Very willing to help. Notes are a bit confusing and disorganized and yes the exam questions can be tricky but if you know the concepts well you can walk out with an A.

Very nice lady and enjoyed going to class! Exams were awful because of the set up: 5 statements, choose the false one. Notes were awful and hard to study. Lots of textbook work. Pretty big assignment that sneaks up on you, so start it when she presents it to you. I wouldn't recommend if you want an easy GPA boost.
