Dr. Nighman is an inspiring and amazing professor. He is incredibly helpful and his love for history and desire to inspire a love of history in his students is apparent in the way that he teaches. Participate a lot in tutorials, show initiative, and go to his office hours. He is not an easy marker, but he rewards hard work.

The course was very reasonable- only a midterm, test, paper and tutorials. Attend all lectures and tutorials, pay attention and you will do quite well. He's a great lecturer too, I only took this course as an elective but really ended up liking it.

Nighman was an amazing prof! The lectures could be a little on the dry side sometimes, but you can usually tell when the lecture topic excites him. His door is always open to help you out. He was my tutorial leader, and that was a total plus! Participation is definitely required in tutorial, especially if he's leading it, but it helped me learn.

I found his lectures pretty dry for the most part, with a few gems in the mix. It was an OK course but I found the essay incredibly boring and pointless, and the tutorial participation was not graded fairly imo. Overall, I probably wouldn't take it again.

Great prof. tough but fair marker, sees through BS so don't even try. Not only a solid prof. but incredible academic adviser; if you're stressing out end of semester and feel you've nowhere to turn, try his office, helped save me from disaster. He's passionate about material so enjoy the classes you have with him.

This is my second class with Dr. Nighman, I took HI101 with him and failed to appreciate his talent. Dr. Nighman is a professor who is truly interested in the success of his students and is without question my favourite professor at WLU. Dr. Nighman is extremely knowledgeable but does not intimidate with his knowledge but instead wishes to teach it

He is great and a very nice guy. Very helpful and he treats you like an adult. He expects you to do your work and if you do it then you'll learn a lot. If you don't then you won't, it's pretty simple.

He's clearly very passionate about what he does...but what he's passionate about is very boring. Don't expect a bird course from HI 102, or even a course you'd find interesting if you're not a history student. I also wish he'd engage the class rather than just referencing his overloaded Powerpoint slides.

Nighman is no easy professor but he is worth taking. He knows more than most professors. If you are one of those students that thinks University is about doing no work and still getting good marks then don't take his class. He expects students that actually want an education.

He is one of those teachers who absolutly loves what he does, and because of this he is a very engaging and enthusiastic teacher. His lectures are very easy to follow and great for note taking. He also allows his students to explore various options with assignments; all in all, a professor to not shy away from.

Don't bother asking him questions... you leave thinking you learned something, but when you go back to write that tough essay you realise that he didn't help at all.

Loves assigning long and demanding essays. However, he is very helpful and very welcoming whenever you go in for help. Really stresses the seminars (tutorials) in all tests, assignments and marks. Also hints at the importance of knowing historians and identifying them by name. Overall, I enjoyed his classes, just the assignments were tough.

Dr. Nighman has at times some very interesting assignments for his classes. He is extremely knoweldgable in Early Modern European History. He is a hard marker though. He expects a lot from his students and if you have a tut. with him be prepared to do a lot of discussing if you expect a good grade. His lectures are interesting and his midtermsr fai

As long as you can get through Dhuoda in 101, then you should be able to survive 102. He's a fair prof, whose assignments really do help in other classes. Be warned, this class has the most, totaled, writing that I've had for any class, and some even combined.

So boring. He has alot of knowledge but is so monotone and he claims that he doesn't like to be at the lecture stand because he likes to walk but really he just stays in a corner when he lectures anyways. His essays are had to do really good on.

GUARANTEED: you may never find a more helpful prof than him. Always encourages one on one help and when you go you're definately rewarded. His tests arent to hard - just DO the seminar readings and actualy go to your seminars. Had him twice and I hope this wont be the last time! Definately sparked an renewed interest in me for the mid-late ages.
