Sweetest and most caring professor at SDSU! She's genuinely invested in her students and wants everyone to succeed. She brings snacks to class and learns everyone's first names. She takes everyone's opinions into consideration and appreciates new perspectives. Take her if you can!

Professor Colquitt was one of the best and most caring professor's I've had so far at State. She brings snacks for students everyday. Grades are composed of take home journal entries which are graded easily, a midterm, and a final. She really cares about her students and will write you a letter of rec or be a reference if you ask. Take her!

Very loud! Yells and gets excited easily. If you answer wrong or are not paying attention she yells your name at the top of her lungs. It's pretty funny & she always brings snacks. Easy A for me because she gets behind and ended up only giving us one hw assignment out of the 10+ on her syllabus. You can miss class, but she'll just yell at you.

Only graded us based on the midterm and final. I wouldn't miss class because she will remember and call you out for it. Class time will consist of a discussion of the readings.

She's a really nice person which is why writing a review is difficult. Her teaching style is interesting at best. Not a lot of work is graded so you don't ever know where you stand. Weekly Journals are important. Midterms only cover what was discussed in class. She gets behind easily but she brings snacks!!

The thesis seminar with Colquitt is amazing. I learned so much from her and she was so supportive of everyone's work. If you're invited to do the seminar, DO IT!

Very encouraging in class, and you think you're doing a great job, but you turn in a journal and get a crap grade. Very confusing. But if you read what was assigned and show up to class, you should do fine--the exams/essays are heavily reliant on what was lectured/discussed in class.

Colquitt is my favorite prof at SDSU. She is the nerdy grandma you always wanted. She cares a lot about her students & brings snacks every week in effort to end student hunger. If you have different pronouns than he/she, she wants to know so she can refer to you correctly. We read a lot, but it was fun reading. Midterm, 2 papers, and final exam.

Colquitt is one of the most caring professors at SDSU. She is always willing to help, and she does, as others say, bring snacks. She's been my favorite professor in my three years at SDSU, and I'm glad to have had her during my unfortunate circumstances. Lectures are great, she gives feedback, and sets deadlines for each part of essays. Take her.

Colquitt is one of the nicest teachers you will ever have. She's an easy grader, although she does take a while to grade. I've taken both ENGL523 and ENGL524 with her and the set up is the same for each. The class is made up of 2 essays (one is 3 pages, the other is 8) and 2 tests. Compared to other classes, it's really easy. Plus, you get snacks

Only downside is the amount of time it takes to get papers back. Other than that she's super nice and holds great discussions of the readings in class. Would take another class with her. And yes, she brings snacks!

Great teacher, selects very good readings. Class discussions are involved and worth while รข€" don't miss any classes. Takes forever to grade papers, but her in-depth comments on your essays are invaluable and worth the wait. Loves Willa Cather and Edith Wharton, and provides great insight into these two great American authors.

Really sweet lady. She is passionate about her literature and transmits it! True, she takes long to grade papers, however, the feedback she gives is very helpful. You have to keep up with the reading and participate. Never miss class as discussions are extremely valuable! Plus, she takes snacks. Would definitely take her again.

I would not take her class again. During finals week, I still had not been given back my midterm. I did not miss class. I did the reading. However, she is a difficult grader, and it is not easy to improve when you don't know where you stand in the course till the end of the course.

Professor Colquitt is one of the nicest teachers I've had at SDSU. I'm not kidding when I say that she brings snacks for the class almost everyday. The conversation that is generated in class is always interesting. I will say she does not grade in a timely fashion, so don't expect to get much back. However she is a sweet lady & great teacher.

Colquitt gives better feedback on writing than any other professor I had at SDSU. She reads and responds to everything you write, with truly meaningful suggestions. Sounds like some disgruntled folks on here got their paper back late - better late from this professor than read and scored in a cursory manner by someone else.

Such a sweet lady. Slow on getting papers back to you, but definitely knows her stuff. Wasn't really the type of lit that I'm interested in, but I liked her class because she brings cookies and stuff almost every day. She's a pretty tough grader, but all in all I enjoyed the class. Just be sure you show up and participate in the discussions.

She's a very sweet lady and loves literature. She might take a long time to return assignments, might not. A lot of people complain about her, but I read the readings, followed the essay prompts and I got an A and B+ in the classes I took with her. If you're as passionate about literature as her you're going to be just fine.
