Claire is a kind soul but also a more difficult prof. You will find her cracking jokes here and there but the material she teaches along with the papers and readings being fairly difficult. If you do the work, and give it your all it is a manageable course. However, she gives 0 exceptions usually for late assignments and papers.

While she is a lovely human being outside the classroom, her lectures are dry and seem to drag on. She likes to send the class "podcasts" as homework, which are actually 90 minute lectures she recorded at home in her living room. Grading criteria is extremely confusing, and often papers are only marked out of 5, so there isn't any margin for error.

LOVE her. One of my favourite profs at X. Really approachable & a fair marker. You'll do fine as long as you go to class, take good notes & do the readings. I took almost every course she teaches only because she was the prof, & I aced all of them. Would have taken more anthro courses if she taught more of them!

I really enjoyed her anth 100 class but found the number of assignments and readings for tourism to be unbearable.

I like Clare as a person but she's not teacher material. She can go on little tangents and it was hard to talk about your own touring experience since it was pretty much all based on Africa. The textbook was 150 pages long and cost $80 and it hardly got used. Miss more than 60% off the classes and you won't get more than a 49% regardless of work.

Fawcett knows a lot about the material, picked interesting textbooks, and interesting essay topics. I really liked her class! She is quite disorganized though, my essay wasn't marked until way after the exam.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. Is not helpful, assigns wayyyyyy to much work over short periods of time. Class is not organized, does not talk about the things we are tested on. AVOID!

Overall work load is pretty good, but doesn't care about student's personal lives...Went through a bad time and did nothing to change marks though the university excused all my work. Doesn't keep good record of assignment, had to pass the same assignment couple of times! I would stay clear of her is possible.

I had her for Anthro of Tourism. We often had discussion classes surrounding texts we had to read which I found engaging and often gave way to interesting debates. She was also very friendly and approachable. The one con I can think of was that he would be a bit disorganized. Also, keep in mind that she values attendance. Would recommend her.

Had her a few years back, she was a little cold toward me ( male ) , I wouldn't recommend her unless you like hearing alot of "grass roots", if I had a dollar for every time she said that, I'd be a rich man.

Dr. Fawcett is wonderful, but she pays attention to her students which can be bad if you don't go to class or put in any effort. She's funny and a little odd, although almost all the profs in anth are a little weird. She truly wants her students to succeed though, and will help anyone who goes to her.

Dr Fawcett is really nice and helpful. Anth 110 is really easy if you go to class, as most of the exam questions comes from lectures, and a little from the textbook. Yes, she is a little weird, but knows her stuff. Oh and to the person who said she talks all the time about China, it's Japan she talks about. Shows how much you pay attention, buddy.

Nice professor with a big personality. As a person I'm sure she's lovely, but she made ANTH 110 super boring. On sabbatical this coming year (2009-2010). She's fun but doesn't keep the class engaged during the boring bits. On the upside, all exams are 100% multiple choice :)

My advice is to never take an Anthro class here unless Haller is teaching it. Classes are long and boring. Essays are marked ridiculously hard 40% of the classed failed the most recent one. She is not very approachable at all.

Had her for Anth 110, loved her. Took her for Anth 211, hated her! You "need" to go to every class, a 30 page article to read for every class and even do a one page response to it, and they are impossible to understand! Treats the course like 4th year advanced Anthro class. AVOID.

Clare is fairly awesome. She is at once professional and personal, very approachable and is a sort of mother-figure. She keeps the class light hearted and fun. She is refreshing, and more profs should love students and teaching like she does.
