Dr. Grissom is an institution, proven by the fact that her lecture is always the most-attended event during Alumni Weekend. You'll be reading at least 200 pages a week and writing a short paper a week, plus longer papers throughout the semester. She's fair. She has high standards. She's worth the effort. Many students take her class pass/fail.

Comment:

Dr. Grissom is one of the most hilarious, profane, and wonderful professors I've ever had. Her sass could serve as an inexhaustible power source, so I would definitely recommend keeping a quotes list. You will have to read quite a lot, but the material is always interesting and wildly unconventional. Never use passive voice in your essays!

Dr. Grissom is an amazing woman. Although the oldest professor at our school, she is very progressive and "with it". The classroom is set up in a circle seminar style so everyone can speak and express their opinions. Not only was this my favorite class to go to, but I made close friends to all my classmates. I definitely recommend her classes.

Professor Grissom is funny and engaging in class and makes you genuinely want to go to class. While there are a lot of readings, most of them are interesting and controversial which leads to good discussions. The only downside is she's a very harsh grader. However, if you go to the Writing Center or her office hours, she lets up on you.

I had Professor Grissom for her Humor Seminar and Writing Workshop. I can confidently say that if you are a freshman looking to take a seminar, Dr. Grissom's is the best one. I had fun everyday in her class, and the homework was completely doable. If you are opinionated, vocal, and love to laugh, take her class! :)

Dr. Grissom is a great professor. A fair amount of reading and writing but not that much. What is turned in is expected to be top notch. Not an easy A. She is hilarious and explains what she wants from the get-go. Most tenured prof at trinity. Really makes you think and participate is class discussions that are always interesting.

Awesome Lady! Really speaks her mind and is clear on how you can improve your writing. She teaches you how to improve your personal writing style, instead of trying to make you write in a formulaic way that is unnatural. She's a tough grader, but again she's really cool and her teaching actually helps you! So I recommend her

Dr. Grissom is possibly my favorite person at Trinity so far. She is witty and hilarious, and I looked forward to her class every single day. She made me more confident in my writing and gave me many useful tips throughout the semester. The course is hard, but I could not recommend it enough. Take her!

Dean Grissom is a living legend. The funniest, most witty person to ever grace the hallowed halls of Northrup. She expects a lot because she gives her all. I'm a 1979 alum, and I've returned to Trinity from time to time just to savor her delicious wit and charm. She is among my most treasured memories of my undergraduate days at Trinity.

wow. what a terrible class.. i honestly thought i had an A throughout the entire semester- until i see that she gave me a B- .... no justification whatsoever. unless you love reading awful books and making comments every minute of class, i would not recommend this class
