Comment:
For a class that had boring material, Jacobs did a good job at keeping it somewhat entertaining. His grading seemed pretty fair, and he gives cheat sheets. Very approachable, and tries to learn everyone's name. Attend his lectures and take good notes and you should succeed.

Dr. Jacobs is an engaging professor. He's willing to meet with students at any point and can always help you out if you find yourself struggling. He can be a tough marker but it just makes you work that much harder.

Comment:
I found his marking unclear and his feedback was way more positive than my grade reflected. There were few assignments and they were very broad even though he seemed to be looking for specific responses/applications of the material. Overall a good lecturer and facilitated decent discussion with the class.

Dr. Jacobs is one of the best professors in the English department. His lectures were always interesting and easy to follow, he was clear with his expectations, and I genuinely enjoyed the format of this course as well as the majority of the readings. He is super fair in terms of grading, and he was always respectful to students.

I've had Dr. Jacobs for two classes now, and I find his lectures to be incredibly dull and dry. He was somewhat approachable and seems like a nice enough person, but his style is not for me. His marking was a lot harder than the level of content he taught.

Dr. Jacobs seems like an incredibly nice person. Unfortunately, his method of teaching did not match the material. 100 pages of Aristotle would be the assigned reading, only to come to class and watch youtube. My learning was not facilitated by Dr. Jacobs, who turned out to also be an extremely tough marker.

Incredibly hard marker for a "youtube" class. Textual material did not match class time. Too much material crammed in to one semester.

Dr. Jacobs is a breath of fresh air in an old, traditional department. He knows his stuff, but challenges the students to think for themselves. This has been one of the only english courses that I can say I learned new techniques. Great prof, genuinely cares about student's progress. Hard, but fair marker.

Jacobs is among the best at uwindsor. He imparts his knowledge with respect to the students. He clearly is there to teach, encourage creativity and prepare students for the work world or further academic studies. He should be an example to the other profs in the department in regards to what effective group workshops are. Looking forward to more.

Nice enough as a person, but completely useless as a professor. He didn't even bother to bring his notes with him to class. Discussions were vague and unrelated to the weekly readings. He did a very poor job of articulating his expectations for our final projects, which led students astray. Unless you need to take a comp class, avoid this prof.

His handouts had typos everywhere. We had a TA but we were assigned from his course outline. Horrible TA. Use chalk maybe twice all semester. He would not dicipline her for negligence or incompetence in teaching. He did nothing to help. Do not take a class being taught TA's in English. Waste of $!

Although it was unnecessary since his lectures were always very interesting, his hotness helped keep me awake during class. An extraordinary guy.
