Comment:
Would not recommend. Lectures are long winded and completely circular. Very condescending toward student opinions even though the syllabus states they are welcome. Assignments were unclear and feedback was minimal and turnaround time was lengthy. Would recommend waiting to take with another professor if you wish to be engaged in the subject

ABORT. ABORT. ABORT. Do not take. Wait for another professor. This man is HORRID. I am an Anthro major- this is my passion and my love- and I cannot stand his class. He talks in circles and contradicts himself. He makes you feel stupid and worthless. You could have every answer to his tests and he would still fail you (personal experience)

will never use textbook for into anthro. Never takes attendance and even if I went to class I didnt pay much attention. Failed the first test not knowing what to expect but did well on the next two. I don't think he ever graded the final paper, I didnt read the book. Do the study guides if he gives them and go to the review sessions, they help!!

Dr. Cope is a nice guy but a TERRIBLE teacher-he doesn't do any teaching at all. He expects you to teach yourself everything and is very vague when answering questions. He ran out of time in the semester so he started giving quizzes every week - that's only 1 week with limited lab time & no lecture to memorize everything. Would NOT take him again!

Dr. Cope is an incredibly knowledgeable man and he loves what he teaches but he is not the best teacher. He never takes attendance but the tests are 100% based on the lectures. The tests were hard if you didn't study a lot. If he didn't provide study guides I would have failed every test. He doesn't teach everything that is on the study guide.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had; took a difficult (but potentially fascinating) course and made it painful. I got halfway through, then withdrew. He's arrogant, refused to help. Might be a good teacher for pre-med or science students, as he's quite knowledgeable. I waited 3 years to take this required course from another professor. Got a B

Loved to use terms, but if you used them he would criticize you using them. He would look at skulls and estimate the cranium size but if a student did it he would ask them how they figured that with out measuring it. Will never take him again. He knows the material but is poor at teaching it.

Dr Cope is a nice person and he knows his stuff, but he is not a good prof. He is poorly organized, inflexible with grading (takes pts off for not showing work, such as 13/100=13%), and expects that rules should apply to you, but not to him (giving us an accurate midterm grade violates his "academic freedom"). Expects you to know mat'l not in book.

Would not take another of his classes if it was an option. Returns tests right before the next one, made us learn material for the final test that he did not teach, won't accept essay answers unless it's exactly the way he would word it. The type of professor that wants you to fail. You can work hard in this class and still only make a C.

Osteology and Forensics is an extremely challenging class- you are expected to learn and remember a ton of information. Its a fun class though, if you can put in the effort. Cope is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject, and eager to help students who show an interest.

Worst Prof. I have had. He may be nice he may even be smart but he should not be teaching. His classes are a joke. He never feels well and complains often. He is never prepared. It took him six weeks to return our first test. I can't believe he gets paid to do what he does

Does not give adequate time to prepare for tests which are ridiculously difficult. Is always sick and missed 4 or 5 classed this sem. Promised to provide potential essays for final exam 2 weeks in advance but did not deliver until the day before exam! He's the only one that teaches theory, so you gotta deal with it. He's a great guy, but not prof

Dr. Cope is very interesting and nice, but the class is not easy. Definitely have to study to make the grade, and really pay attention in lab! LOVES TEETH. I took it for Maymester and apparently, that is the time to take it. The class was full of second or third timers. Cope will make you learn the stuff, but it will be hard to make an A.

dr. cope is one of my favorite teachers of all times. i've had him three times, but failed once because i was a slacker and stopped going to class. it was all my fault and i still love the guy. he really knows his primates, and you'll def. enjoy the biol. anth. thats required of majors.in three classes he has been a helpful and entertaining teacher

A really funny guy, guides you through the readings and is helpful, but do NOT disagree with his statements. There is no interpretation in this class outside of his interpretations (even though it is based around theory?).

He is really funny and tells hilarious stories in class that have nothing to do with what we are studying. The material is hard, but he really knows his stuff when it comes to primates. His tests are really hard, but the class is really interesting.

soooo bad at answering questions in class! it's like if you catch him off-guard with a question he can only keep talking about what he was just talking about, whether or not it has anything to do with what you asked! otherwise, good guy, good class, i learned a lot.

Hes a genius! All lectures in 210 came from his head. Hated the material though. Bio Anth was very interesting! He knows so much interesting stuff! Not easy classes but would recommend him to anyone.
