Comment:

Professor Landau is a great instructor. He has a dry sense of humor but it's also quirky. Take notes, read the textbook, and participate. He is a tough grader but if he sees you putting forth the effort and taking accountability (which is a rare characteristic), he will help you succeed.

So I took Landau in 21A and got a B with a ride to English 1. I am going to stress some really important points to do well in his class. Do the work, take notes, and pay attention. Hes honestly fair except for his grading which is really tough. Take this as a lesson for the big leagues. He pushes you to your limits. I like him.

Very dry sense of humor. Expects us to remember every little thing he may or may not have mentioned in class for the papers we write. Make sure to read the book thoroughly. Very picky grader.

I have taken this professor for the fall semester and I would say he is the WORST English teacher I have ever had so far. He shows little support in his office hours and has a darn weird sense of humor. I would advise NOT to take his class at all. Find a professor that can show compassion of your effort and cares about your questions and concerns.

Landau is a strange character, but I do appreciate his teaching style. He is a very tough grader when it comes to essays. Ask him to review your papers in office hours, watch your grammar mistakes, and do not walk in front of him if you are late to class.

Landau is pretty funny and I have to say he is definitely the professor you want if you care about improving your writing. You should definitely come to his office hours if you need help with anything in his class. Just as long as you apply yourself you'll do fine. He gets you ready for the big time.

Awesome teacher! Extremely helpful, there for you, will give great feedback on essays, be prepared to read! Participate in class!!! He's funny, easy going and very friendly. I wish all my teachers were like him, he makes learning fun! Take him, don't expect an easy grade, but if you work you can get an A. Lets class go early sometimes too.

He was so difficult , I would go to his office hours but would barely receive clear advice on what went wrong on my paper. His class is boring and I even dropped the course when it was to late. If you aren't one to put in work , handle a challenge or deal with sarcasm he is not the professor for you.

Daniel Landau is the best professor I have ever had. He taught me so much more than I ever did while taking classes at a UC school. He really wants students to learn and think about literature in different ways. He also wants students to stop being lazy and work hard for their grades. His class is not difficult if you put effort into it. LOVE HIM

I got an A, and the funny thing is that I am a much better writer in class than out of class. I probably should have started writing the papers sooner. I got B+ on the papers but A on in class exam. I guess I got an A on the final. I really liked the poem we wrote about for the final.

I am dumbfounded by the poor reviews given for this professor! Dry and strange sense of humor for sure but by far my most favorite professor EVER. SHOW you are interested in his class he will do anything to help you any time. TAKE NOTES , don't talk to the people around you and go to his office hours. He is someone you want on your team !

I wasn't excited to take this class but Landau was a surprise. Very funny, and inspired me to do the reading. Grammar is no joke with this guy. If you take advantage of his office hours he wants to help you become a better writer. He has a zero tolerance for laziness. It really helps if you like the Sopranos and be ready for serious sarcasm.
