Professor Avery is a great guy. He is very nice and is so knowledgeable about his lectures. He even wrote part of the textbook for class. His exams are really hard, but he curves so much and gives a lot of extra credit which will help out your grade.

I can honestly say that I attended every single lecture and still don't know a thing about botany. However, u don't have to study. The 1st test i got something like a 34 but with the curve it was a 74!! Very nice guy & will answer any questions. Definately take him, but choose your lab instructor wisely they'll make or break your grade.

He is a good professor, kind of confusing sometimes and tends to go off in his head sometimes. But if you just do the workbook in the end you're good. He takes attendance, but he doesn't take it against your grade. You can get an easy A by just studying for the three tests and doing those worksheets.

Botany...great class-very easy! got an A- and barely attended class even though he takes attendance. do the workbooks in the back of the book and the extra credit will help on the exams! he's nice but boring. books are expensive-just get the main book for the workbooks in the back or photo-copy them from a friend for exams.

I had him for my Botany class and he was really nice. He gives you extra points if you do the worksheets in the back of the book. If you have a chance to take him you should. Don't listen when people say hes a bad professor cause he's not. Very nice guy.

I loved this class. I had him for botany and i thought it was great. His handwriting sucks. His text book is over $100 and you can't sell it back because he has 4 quizzes in the back that he allows you to rip out and hand in for 10 extra points on your exam. He is awesome, i learned alot from that class.

This class is by no means easy, but you really don't have to "study your ass off" as some have said. Tests are hard but i DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK/Lab book. They're over $100 and you can't sell them back. Definitley buy the lecture book though. Overall this class was boring, but Dr.Avery really is funny. Lot's of Botany humor.Gives HUGE curves.

Had him for herpetology. Made me want to switch out of Bio, which I love. He was all about trying to make us fail. That should tell you something. Only prof. at SCSU I don't like!!! Did not like when students asked questions - any questions. avoid like the plague!

His tests are impossible to pass. Dont even bother trying to study because it is all usless and there's a curve. Try to bring a tape recorder to class because his writing is worse than a monkey's. Honestely I think a monkey with no arms might write clearer. Dont take him if you are a bio major cause he will make you want to change your major. uggg!
