Comment:
Lectures provided some detail, but rarely focused on the content of the assignments directly. The assignments are absurdly difficult and often had questions that were not covered in class and required assumptions that would take magic (google didn't help) to find on your own. Leaving this course till my last year, praying for a different prof.

Comment:
If this class is mandatory for you, I am so sorry. This class is the hardest course I've ever taken and it definitely did not help having it with Bremner. He's a terrible prof to learn from. He assumes everything comes naturally to everyone, he flies through material without ever looking back, and assignments and midterms are brutal.

Comment:
David Bremner is the type of guy who's WAY too smart to teach down to people who don't already understand the material. That, or he doesn't give a crap. Algorithm Design and Analysis is the hardest course in CS, and having a bad teacher makes it nearly un-passable with him. I was one of 10 people who withdrew out of 50. 50% failed the course.

The tests are tough and test more than needed. His in class material can be really tough to follow. He will do his best to try to help if you ask him yourself. A great guy and could be a great teacher, just maybe not for math material.

Really really nice guy but his assignments are unreasonable and useless. Have you guys done lisp before? No? Oh, there's a question about it on the assignment. Make your Oz program look like a lisp program. Now make it look like a C program. WHY? That doesn't help you learn a language, it's just confusing.

While it seems like a perfectly good bird course was ruined by the refactoring of the course content, Dr. Bremner is doing a pretty good job. He always comes prepared, and does his best to be interesting while delivering such boring material. The first assignment was rather unreasonable though.

He was never afraid to let me know when he felt I didn't do as good as I could. Always there to help you out if you don't understand something. Speaks slowly and sometimes pauses for a bit, but he's just trying to put it as simple as he can.
