I had a hard time understanding his lectures, but he is a kind person and he does try to help if you come to office hours. If you are a math-minded person, he might not be the professor for you, but if you want to take micro in terms of telling a story with graphs go for it? Hope to take his economics of epidemics class.

Nice guy, but not a good professor. Often explains concepts in overly complicated/convoluted ways that only econ students would be able to understand, and is often extremely confusing/unable to answer your questions when asked. SO confusing, and SO unhelpful. Only take this class if econ is easy for you - if it is not, you will struggle.

I definitely recommend Harrington. If you stay on top of the concepts by doing the readings and homework, you'll do well. I noticed a lot of people quickly lost interest and their grades suffered.

Took Harrington again after having him before. I must say, his seminar is MUCH more interesting/engaging than any lecture based class you have with him. He is super helpful with all of the presentations you have to give and is a really fair grader. One of my favorite professors in the economics department.

Awesome. I love his passion for funerals and the 19th century. 10/10 would take again.

He is very bright; however, very boring and will often go on tangents in class that have nothing to do with the subject matter. One class we talked about his condo in Boston the whole time. Loves to mention how smart he and his daughter are. Not the best, but he is kind of helpful in office hours. He lost the gradebook halfway through the semester

An incredibly smart man, but inept at teaching those who don't grasp the material as easily as he did. His endless tangents and wasting of class time are infuriating (especially when he reminds you how smart his daughter is compared to you and your peers). I did very well in both classes I took with him, so I hold no personal grudge, but avoid him.

Comment:
David Harrington, while initially funny, gets old quickly. His can be very unclear in his explanations, and he has trouble keeping a single train of thought for more than a minute or two. While Econ 101 is an introductory course, do not expect an easy grade as he is woefully unaware of how easily he confuses students.

He spends classes discussing strange tangents, and often asks random questions we could not possibly know the answer to. He wants to help your writing but only in his very particular set way, and goes about it bizarrely, making us critique books on sentence structure not content. I hate writing bad reviews on here, but do not take his class.

Easily the worst professor I have had at Kenyon. Mostly rambles in class and barely explains the material. posts homeworks less than two days before they are due. Treats students who go to office hours like they are too stupid to waste time on. Never take Harrington even if you have to

He is my favorite professor so far. As soon as you accept that he is a goofy person then you can really enjoy his class and have fun with it. You don't need to read the text book as long as you go to class, but if you read the textbook and go to class then you should get a B or higher

I loved Professor Harrington! I knew nothing about economics before I took his class, and now I'm really interested and taking Macro this coming semester. Though he does digress into comic tangents, Harrington makes econ. easy to understand...his lectures are always entertaining, though he does call on people randomly. Also, a really easy class.

Great economist, terrible teacher. Once stated that teaching is like vomiting to him. He's only teaching to pay the bills.

He's very knowledgeable about economics and he is teaching because he has a true passion. However, he digresses a lot and his quirky jokes became too much for me. I had a hard time understanding his explanations.

Funny guy, but not the best professor in my opinion. Class was interesting, but generally left me more confused than satisfied. Office hours were not very beneficial. He definitely knows what he is talking about, but maybe too much for an Intro. The random calling on did make me rather nervous.
