Good teacher but very difficult class. Rude and moody. Went to her office hours for help and I was told I'm never getting into grad school because I'm not smart. Exams have to be answered word for word from her notes.

Dr. Gatins is a fantastic professor. She will definitely make you work extremely hard for an A, but if you put in the effort it's possible. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed and gives lots of good feedback on assignments. You have to do the readings and participate in class to do well. Definitely take class with her if you can

Hardest class I have ever taken at Marist. You MUST read to pass and you MUST take GOOD NOTES. Three exams and final paper are basically your whole grade. She is such a great professor tho. Learned so much and I was never bored for a 9:30 class.

Dr. Gatins is definitely the hardest professor I have had while at Marist, but she is also the best professor I have had. She is enthusiastic about the class, tells us it is the best part of her day, and is a fantastic lecturer. Yes, she is hard and makes you work for the A, but the class is worth taking. I highly recommend taking her at some point

Mean, not helpful at all, and very tough. This woman has no soul, and will not budge an inch on anything. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I love psych, she made it miserable.

Dr. Gatins is one of my favorite professors. She is incredibly knowledgeable in the field. You will learn so much throughout this course as long as you keep up with the textbook reading. Make sure you read the chapters thoroughly! She has convenient office hours, as well. Really engaging class.

I LOVE Gatins! I have never learned so much in a class before. Her sense of humor makes the class great and plus the material is interesting. Her class is solely lecture style with no powerpoints; so you need to make sure you are paying attention and taking notes. Read, read, read! Make sure you do the assigned reading to participate in class!

The class itself is not difficult, but the tests are very detailed and it's difficult to get an A. If you don't write the exact notes you took in class on the test the best you'll do is a C. Lots of assigned readings but no written homework besides a few papers. She's a tough grader but she is very knowledgable in her field and I've learned a lot.

Never had her as a teacher, spoke to her as the chair of the psychology department. Not helpful and quite rude. I asked her to sign the sheet for having psychology as a minor with my CJ major. With a snotty attitude she said, "you really think Criminal Justice and psychology go together? I think you're wrong." I would never take a class with her.

Professor Gatins is quite possibly the best professor I've had at Marist in the past 4 years. Her knowledge and passion on the subject really shows during her class lectures. A lot of people are complaining about how tough she is, and she is. If you want to actually learn something, take her. If you want an easy A, run away fast. STUDY,STUDY,STUDY!

The Katy Perry song 'Hot N Cold' describes her perfectly. In class, her lectures are fun, engaging, and interesting. but when the test rolls around....you MUST write it EXACTLY how she wants, and she's never satisfied. The the next class she rants for 20 minutes about how she was literally screaming to no one while grading your tests. AVOID!

Dr. Gatins is not adequate fit to teach undergraduate school, however she may be well advised to teach exclusively at the graduate level. Most students do not perform well with her in Adolescent Psyc, Child Development/Intro to Psyc. She said most students in her class will get Cs.

gatins is extremely knowledgeable in her field. the class is not the easiest but it is interesting. if you take good notes in class and study a lot you will do fine. she wants her students to do well and usually scales tests. no homework. 1 paper, 3 tests, and a final which is all essays from the previous tests. favorite teacher freshman year!!

Dr. Gatins is adept in her field, but she expects her students to perform graduate level work and is too abrasive to adequately work with students. She should return to her private practice.

Do not take Deborah Gatins. She expects students to memorize her lectures verbatim on tests and quizzes. If you are unable to do so, she will embarrass and fail the individual! Instead take these instructors for Child Development or PSYC 101: Rosemarie Castano, Joe Canale or Glenda Williams

Dr. Gatins is an extremely helpful teacher who really knows her stuff, but she's an extremely difficult grader. She also has a vert strict attendance policy, so don't miss more than 2 classes. The in-class tests are all essay and you need to know the notes word for word to do well.
