He was okay. He wasn't the most interesting lecturer and he's got a pretty uncomfortable way of speaking, but he teaches the concepts fairly well. Unfortunately, he doesn't wash his hands after he pees, so ultimately, I cannot recommend taking a course with Denis.

Comment:

Denis is a very good professor for providing you the hands out and material to make you successful. Denis however has one flaw that's pretty big and that's his voice is extremely monotone. If you can get past this he's a great professor with a lot of knowledge in what he's teaching and if you show up you will pass his class.

Comment:

Course material was mostly review in my case as somebody who has been programming for a few years, but the class was well maintained. Clearly written slides, and handout copies given at the beginning of each class. Plenty of opportunity to test your skills in the labs or on your own time. Handwriting on the chalkboard can be hard to read at times.

Attendance was not technically mandatory, however he refused to post notes and handouts online to entice students to come to class. He is very soft spoken, and will put you to sleep unless you have your coffee first. Denis was not helpful when approached directly. I would recommend taking Prof. Bonnie MacKay's 1100 class instead

Ok, so this is very boring class when he teaches, he is monotone and says "OK" as every third word. You can make a game out of counting them when you get bored every class. THE BOOK IS NOT USED ONCE SO DONT BUY IT even though he tells you its required and you'll use it a lot.

Great prof! Really holds your hand the entire time (prints handouts for the entire class!) Great clarity and great voice to listen to! Made intro to CS a lot less overwhelming than I thought it'd be!

Overall an excellent professor. The worksheets he provided for each lecture, he went over in great detail. He is willing to help students with any material they having difficulty with in the course. The TAs that help him with this course were also very excellent and helpful. I higly recommend this professor to any student.
