Devorah is a great person. Kind hearted and all about helping the students. She is "way cool" and all about helping the students. The only thing is she is a little bit of a hard marker, and expects a lot of reading for success, and lectures are really hard to follow.

Great prof! Knows her stuff, fair marker and a light loaded class altho lotsa readings. Attendance and participation in tuturials mandatory. Doc Analysis, short essay (7 pgs), 5 min presentation (unless extremley shy) and a final take home (3-5 pgs). Coming from a B-/B average student

I took three classes with Devorah throughout my academic career at SFU. I have never met a prof as wondeful as she is. I found her classes to be well organized and her relationship with the students and the material focused on a expectation of mutual respect and interest in the topic. I can't wait to do my PHD with her!

I guess some professors are just not made to teach!! Unclear about what she wants. Makes an attempt to clarify, yet she's still unclear about what she expects from you.

This class...this prof, both excellent. Devorah is a breath of fresh air for any history student who wants to break free from the shackles of a typical note taking, regurgitation class. If you like structure, this class is not for you, since Devorah allows for you the freedom to study what aspect you want. I'd take classes with here any time!

Grrreat prof! She conducts an extremely 'engaged' class, where the class operates according to their interests. She's open to student's feedback on the course and is willing to experiment with ideas as long as the students are. However..there was waaayyy too many 'mini' assignments, so the courseload was quite heavy!

This is the BEST prof i have ever had!!She credits her students with intelligence, gives them choices & involves them entirely in the learning method! Her approach is fresh & innovative, seminars fun.We sang, laughed, saw film clips, role played & created informal presentations.Don't take this class if you like the "typical" boring lectures and tutorials

She was one of the worst profs I have ever had. She does not lecture, instead she has her own teaching method in which the students "teach the course" She thinks that a "C" is an excellent mark, one that you should be proud of!!!
