I wouldnt be @ Cal if it wasnt for her. Sure she pushes + is tough, but it's college! She rewards those who seek out advice and actually do the work. The literature is interesting, and the papers aren't bad. She's @ the level you would expect at a university. I would take her classes over again if I could!

She is Awful. The first week of class she seemed really nice. She even brought in cookies. Well the following week became hell and every class after that. I dreaded going.. I got yelled at for asking a question because i didn't understand the assignment completely. She is rude, and LOVES to roll her eyes at you & be sarcastic. Not worth your time.

This is the professor that is responsible for taking away all the confidence I had in my writing literacy. She heavily criticized my writing on my viewpoint, rather than on the content, my grammar, organization, or analysis on the topic. I'm receiving my BA this semester and all my papers have received A's, letting you know I'm not the problem.

No one thinks they'll pass. Grading is unclear, but assignments at the end of the semester are more heavily weighted. It helps to be on her good side. We read one book and did a report and she flunked mine, I panicked, just save yourself the time and don't panic. I sat through all the F's and the unrelated final. She grades on if you learned. MLA!!

Oren is an extremely tough grader. She can tell the students who actually do the homework and ones who just show up, and she grades accordingly. Watch out for random pop quizzes and expect to write a few long papers.

She is an AWFUL teacher. I learned absolutely nothing in this class. She grades and judges based on you views and not your writing. Also if your views are different than her then I wish you good luck. I would strongly recommend to not take her class she is the worst teacher I have ever experienced in my life. This is the absolute worst professor I have had any encounter with. She does not specify on when asked and expects you to know everything. She is biased and doesn't teach anything in class ( my class was taught one thing during the whole semester) I have no idea how this lady still has this job and feel sorry for the poor suckers who take her.

Oren is a great prof. Those who have anything neg to say don't appreciate the fact that she's what a real prof should be: passionate, pushes u to succeed, an expert in her subject. If u realize that early in her class u will have a lot to learn and u will improve. Why do you think you're in college? I'm glad she doesn't give out an easy grade.

English was my favorite subject till this class. She talks about wanting to help the students (mainly athletes) but is extremely inconsistent with grading and offering help when wanting to go over a grade received on a paper. Must write to her pleasing but she doesn't tell you what that is. Would not recommend at all.

What can I say about Oren besides Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. Honestly, she's the worst professor I've had in my educational experience. She knows English 1A is a requirement and makes it almost impossible to pass, unless you're a genius, professional writer. It's pretty much full points or no points.I would not recommend her to anyone. Beware!!

Absolutely terrible. I wasn't taught a single thing about writing. She mostly goes on tangents about life. If she sees a minor error in following directions on a paper and F will be given. Directions are not always clearly stated. Do not recommend at all.

Worst instructor ever. Her attitude towards students who had questions to better understand the subject at hand was flat out rude. She thinks she is smarter than the text book. So she is always right even when she is wrong! I dropped her class for a different teacher. If you want to learn, i suggest you do the same, to save your own sanity.

This is a great teacher. She does give out a lot of hw but not so much where you are freaking out. I dont think the class was very hard, i mean its college, if you cant do homework every night then maybe you should rethink your goals. I recommend this teacher because she also will teach you many things about life.
