As long as you complete something that you care about in any of Don's classes, you will do well. He is extremely supportive of self expression and art being uniquely your own which made his classes extremely enjoyable. I took drawing 1, 2 and painting 1 and 2 with Don between 2007-2011.

He's very passionate but is so aloof that the class wasn't at all helpful. I dreaded going to class because he would talk and talk and talk (basically to himself) for the nearly the entire time.

Don is supremely helpful as long as you already have a clear image of what you want out of the class and what you want your art to do. Any upper level classes he's awesome with because all the students already know what's going on. If you are taking lower level things make sure you have some basics already down.

Great guy and very easy going. Easy to talk to and he is open to all sorts of ideas. If you are not feeling what he is asking you too do, throw him an idea and he will probably let you go with it. Wow is all i can say. he talks way too much about absolutely nothing that helps you become a better student. He goes on and on about stupid worthless things and doesnt give you time to work on your artwork in class. Gives way too many projects at once and never tells you how you did on them. No class structure and is way too laid back.

Okay. Pay attention to the artists that he throws out. That is his overt criticism and trying to give you a place to look. If you like art, and actually listen to him, you will get a lot out of this class. I've had him for two classes so far and would look forward to having another course with him.

Great guy, great professor, easy to talk to (and talk and talk and talk...) He is definately in-tune/current with the art world(both present and past). I found his classroom environment to be comforting and one that other students and I were encouraged to shape to fit our collective vision. Schmidlapp is teh roXX0r!!11one!!

Such an incredibly nice professor.Very helpful and offers much freedom in the classroom. Talks quite a bit during classes which is sometimes frustrating. But if you listen to his comments they are very worthwhile. Take his words into consideration and they will help you to better develop your skills

One of the most pleasurable Prof. on our campus. Takes interest in motivtional excersise of your skills. Respects all students greatly.
