Comment:
Pretty much trainwrecked the half of torts that he taught our section because of poor time management. Entertaining in his own way, but impossible to take notes on in class since he rambles, goes on tangents, etc. A true academic - more interested in theoretical critiques than teaching much of practical use. Upside: final exam was unusually fair

Never believe him if he says that there will be no time rush during the exam. His exams are long, tricky, and confusing.

Keep this guy away from teaching. He is incoherent and goes off on ridiculous tangents that are interesting but do not give any structure to the course. He spends most of his time describing how he wants torts to be, rather than how it is. Exam was a complete nightmare with no structure and an outrageous number of issues. Avoid at all costs.

Too brilliant to be doing any real job. If only he's been elected MP for the Greens he could have just spouted off in parliament, IOW more entertaining than effective.

He is one of the most unprofessional teachers at UVIC Law. Nice guy one on one, but so is the post man and the post man probably would have been more coherent. He gives out marks randomly for no reason and if you ask him about it he won't remember why. He also makes class mandatory but then does not engage students at all and makes no sense.

Comment:
Incomprehensible. Doesn't engage students and seems to hold a mild antipathy towards his students - probably just pissed that nobody listens because facebook is more interesting, or at least more comprehensible. Disorganized ... missed appointments, class notes a mess, no structure to his lectures. Nice guy if you catch him one on one mind you.

I loved him, he's so random. Helpful and approachable if you go for extra help/clarification. His examples are legendary - they seem insane at first, but I don't think I'll ever forget some principles of Tort because of them. He's nice and funny and totally brilliant. He's not hyper organized like Kilkoyne but he really digs deep into issues.

Style of teaching is waaay to complicated for a first year class, but if you put aside the fact that you have to write an exam at the end (and actually know the in and outs of the material!) you'll begin to recognize how brilliant and interesting this man is!

Nice guy but he thinks he is teaching torts 2. Talks fast. Gets into it. Occasionally remembers others are present. Do yourself a favour. To learn the basics, buy the Irwin Law text. But don't expect it on exam. Argue policy & fit sex in somewhere. Lawyers have told me they feel insecure re their torts knowledge due to having Galloway. So do I.

He seems to read off his notes exclusively. Only likes to talk about policy and doesn't keep in mind these are first year students. In his exams, he will compare you to other students and rate you accordingly. Poor exam maker and marker
