I'm surprised that people say he is boring. Gildea leads very interesting discussions, you just have to DO THE READING to enjoy class! He's a great teacher, a great guy and is willing to work with any student no matter what they need.

The class is beyond boring. Gildea is extremely monotonous. He doesn't do a good job of interesting the class, so discussion lags horribly since it's a seminar course. True, he is a great guy, but it's false that he's a great prof. Avoid him if you want to have some fun (Dr. Edwards is great for that). Not too hard to get an A, though...

Very helpful and supportive. Shows a genuine interest in his students. As a student, you can tell he really takes pride in what he does. As a results, he's an excellent teacher and a good person.
