Dr. Weiss is awesome! He is super helpful when you have questions and is just an awesome person at heart. His classes are not easy, but no good class should be. He challenges his students and encourages them to find success on their own. He was a huge motivator for me as an undergraduate and he really helped me feel prepared me for graduate school.

Most unapproachable teacher I've ever had. Very rude to students who come to his office, makes it seem like we are nuisances. Maybe I just came to him on a bad day, but teachers should still not treat students like that. Avoid him!

Dr. Weiss is passionate about plants. Follows a powerpoint for lectures and has a quiz every Friday. The quiz is from the notes and study guides and lets you ask any questions before the quiz, which proves very helpful.

MIGHT be a nice person but definitely NOT a good teacher. Has a syllabus but does not follow it. Jumps from topic to topic. He is confused and is students are REALLY confused. It sure looks like CNU could hire some good instructors who are interesting and interested in the students!

If you are looking for a structured lecture where the notes are all on the board, do NOT take this class. He'll start on one topic, move on to another, and then go back to the original, leaving me confused with all of the topics in a jumble, and every single quiz was like a test.

Dr. Weiss is such a great teacher! He really loves plants, and photosynthesis! You have to pay attention in class, and take notes. Quizzes can be tough but it right off the notes and study guides, they are just worded tricky. All in all take him! Very nice.

I had a really difficult time in this class because the material is soo difficult to understand and memorize if you don't love Botany. I had a horrible biology class in high school so I was completely unprepared for this class. He was unwilling to help me because he said I should learn it myself. Lectures don't line up with quizzes.

he's a great speaker but what he says in lecture doesn't line up with his tests well. Best advice bring your book to class and use post its or highlighters to take notes in the book itself. He goes right along with book and uses a lot of pictures. Take advantage of the study guide but it may only earn you a C in the end.

His quizzes are rediculous. Two people could have written the same thing down and one will get credit while the other doesn't. Its not even a matter of knowing the subject matter, its how you word it. And if he personally doesn't like what you said, you lose points. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

He's a plant nerd. I don't go to lecture during the week, but instead borrow notes from other students and have never gotten anything but an A on his quizzes. HE DOESN'T GRADE THEM. A grader does, so challenge your quiz grade if you think it's wrong! Easy if you have basic bio knowledge you'll be fine. Bonuses on each quiz for +10 EC points.

he obviously knows what hes talking about & as a bio major u have to expect the material to be hard. He wants people to learn & although his quizzes require u to KNOW the material-they are short answer which is a benefit.U can say what u know & not be confused by multiple choice options.He wants u to learn not just pass! What more can u want?

An excellent professor. It is unlikely that you will be able to avoid him, so might as well make the best of it by coming to every lecture. I found that while reading the book does help, Professor Weiss covers everything on his quizzes fully in class, so notes are by far more important than reading, should you choose to do one or the other only.

He is a complete nerd. You can tell it by looking at him. He loves his topic, loves plants and his lectures can be interesting. I have learned a lot from his class. However, he has quizes every friday which you can know the material perfect but if you word your answers wrong *err!* He is picky about the way you word things so he is hard.Study+read!

Dr. Weiss wants you to succeed in his class. By far..the best biology teacher I've had. I've learned so much from him. Go to class, do the work, and keep trying. He'll help you if you go and ask. If you don't put forth the effort, he won't help you. Take any of his classes if you can. You'll learn so much.

Dr. Weiss is a great professor who really cares about his students and what he teaches. Best to form study groups early and READ THE BOOK. This is a course for biology majors and he expects some dedication to the material. The course is worth the work, and Dr. Weiss makes it fun.

His lectures are boring, but I know he tries to make them interesting. I'm not sure why everyone gets such bad grades on his quizzes (including myself) but I think it's because we don't quite know what to expect (he covers a lot of info) and he takes off points for every little mistake. Try to get a different professor if you can!

If you can aviod this teacher at all cost.... DO IT!!! He is the hardest grade I've every had. Very very picky when it comes to grading. Doesn't tell you what he wants you to write on labs or quizes and then grades them really hard. Try to avoid him!!!
