Comment:

Emily Hill is an extremely nice prof with absolutely no chill in the best of ways. She's especially interested in Chinese history, but she cares about all of her subject material. Great lecturer and very good at stimulating discussion. She gives a lot of readings though, so be warned. She's a super easy marker though, so that's great!

By far one of th best professors I have ever had. She is knowledgeable, passionate and care for the well being of students. I requested countless extra office hours and she has been nothing but helpful. Queen's is lucky to have her

Comment:

She loves to assign a ton of readings, but it's possible to bull your way through class discussions. She's always a little frazzled but she's nice and not strict about deadlines. Emphasized participation in her marking scheme but I barely talked and still got a decent mark. Go to class and do your work and you'll be fine.

Comment:

Probably the sweetest lady Ive come across. Genuinely interested in her students and wants them to do well. A definite fair marker. I had some personal issues during the semester and she was more than willing to work with me and support me with what I was going through (because live inevitably happens). I would recommend her again and again.

Can be a bit confusing but she is brilliant and leads a good seminar. My favourite prof in undergrad, I took every course she taught. She is supportive, helpful, and informative.

She loves to assign hundreds of pages of readings for each weeks 3 hour seminar. She's good if you can follow her confusing rants and you have to appreciate East Asian history if you take this class. She assigns an assignment due every SaturdaySunday but is a fairly easy marker.

She's a very nice and professional prof. Cares a lot about students, and gives generous marks. She's always there to help should you want it. She gives a lot of readings, but provides assignments to push you to read. Has attendance marks for seminars. Lovely prof.

I approached this seminar with trepidation, having read some of the scathing reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Hill is an incredibly sweet and pleasant person, marks very easy, and although she gave us a ton of readings, she made good use of them and I learned a lot in the class. I would highly recommend her seminars

Bad: Very unorganized lecturer, difficult to pay attention to. Good: Actually cares about students, very easy to communicate with, very willing to step up and provide extra help. Tries hard to make students understand her course. She's a really nice and genuine lady. Assignments/tests weren't too bad, just know your readings.

She is an inefficient and unorganized instructor. Her marking style is also biased, and her comments contradict what she has asked you to often do. She is also very flighty and her lectures are not based on chronology, but instead jumps from topic to topic. I will never take any course she is teaching again.

I've had both HIST 298 and HIST 318 with her, she's definitely way better in seminar than lecture, her flighty style really works in a small classroom. If you're willing to do the readings she's a fairly easy marker, really interested in her subject area.

A lot of people find Emily Hill a little flighty, but once you get used to her lecture style, she has a ton of information to share and she's very interesting. She has a good attitude and loves students and wants them to do well. She also makes an effort to know her students, even in large lectures. I really enjoyed Emily.

An interesting prof -- she takes some time to get used to, but if you click with her, you'll have a great experience. Is very friendly and helpful one-on-one, and assigns interesting and engaging readings. She can also be really hard to follow and assigns a lot of readings. Definitely an acquired taste, make sure you know what you're getting into.

Lacks any kind of presenting skills. Speaks softly and then laughs loudly to jokes that nobody heard. Kept the class late on multiple occasions. Many people left the class each day with no new knowledge. She laughs at everything from war to presidents. AWFUL
