The class is only graded on 3 stats quizzes and 3 exams + the final exam. So if you don't do good on one its hard to make up those points. Everything on the quizzes/exams he spells out directly word for word in lecture, but also counts it wrong if you don't memorize these concepts word for word. Funny professor & SUPER knowledgable.

Really enjoyed the class. The class itself was pretty difficult because there is SO much to memorize and the midterms are all open ended and he is particular about wording. The stats is not too difficult and the quizzes on those are open note. Make sure to go to class or you will fall behind and go to his review sessions!

Grades are based off of 3 statistic test which are open notes but if you mess up one step its a zero for the whole test. There are 2 midterms and a final that are short answer and need to be word for word answers or no credit. Only 220 points for the entire course, you will either know it by heart or fail.

I took this class as an elective, but Dr. Cooper ended up being my favorite teacher of the year. I was never bored during the lectures even though I couldn't care less about psychology. Really funny and is pretty cool, likes to talk about Reddit and videogames. Solid cool dude overall.

Quizzes and tests are the only grades. There are correct answers and incorrect answers with nothing left up to interpretation. If you are in Cooper's class, you are going to learn the material well or fail. That being said, he is the best person at the art of teaching I have ever had the honor of being taught by.

Great professor. Dr. Cooper makes statistics actually make sense and his lectures are interesting. He is extremely easy to talk to and opens his office often if you have any questions or concerns. He makes a sheet of everything you need to know for the exam, so tests are very straightforward and transparent. Make flashcards and you'll easily pass.

Dr. Cooper was one of my first professors at Iowa State and his lectures were always ones I looked forward to. He commands attention with his loud voice and funny add ons to the everyday textbook material. I never felt bored or wanting to doze off during lectures and I would for sure take another class from Dr. Cooper if I had to opportunity.

Yes, Dr. Cooper! As a first year student at ISU, Dr. Cooper is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had. This guy 100% knows what he is talking about and explains the subject matter in a very concise manner. In addition, Dr. Cooper likes to add his own personal experiences to share with the class, which makes the class even more interesting!

Psych 301 is required for Psych majors and minors so you should take it with Professor Cooper. He doesn't take attendance but his lectures aren't posted online so you need to go. Cooper does a great job of making a somewhat boring subject pretty interesting. The grade is entirely based on the 4 major exams and 3 stat exams. Do the flashcards too!

Not going to post anything too original here. Dr. cooper is one of the best profs I've ever had. Really clear and interesting classes. Make the notecards if you want to do well. After I started studying with them my grade went up a letter.

I'm going to add to all the glowing reviews. Dr. Cooper has very detailed lectures that he works through with his students. He is very descriptive and really wants his students to learn. There is a LOT of memorization involved, but he will work with everyone who asks for help. Taught me more about statistics than my statistics professor!

Psych301 was the hardest class I've ever taken at ISU. Dr. Cooper expects you to memorize a short list of definitions (10) and be able to give short answer answers (mostly terms) for his exams, which means you're going to have to study. However, he gives you a sheet of what to study for on the exam which eliminates a lot of fluff. A+ Personality.
