Boyd is awesome! Very helpful but he does expect you to put in the time and struggle a little -- how else are you going to learn? If you need to end the class with a decent understanding, then take him. If you're looking for an easy A - you shouldn't be in college.

Nice guy but lacks on the current teaching standards. Monotone voice, boring, doesn't care to make it interesting; overall bad expirence. TAs and lab was amazing, got 95% in my lab and 42% in class (which was about average). TA DAN is the man!

When he teaches, he skips steps. My recommendation for this class is to work with his TA and or work with someone who understands what he's teaching. It is hard to understand your notes after you leave class because like I said he skips steps and moves really fast. This is a HARD HARD class!

the crowd hates him , but personally i toped the class so he was decent i guess. if u dont have a good background of cal. and basic algebra, take basic courses first... the instructor Dan is really good , better than Boyd ... lol.. you can afford to skip some class cuz he repeats stuff quite a lot . easy homework.for tests go over the study guide

its hard to say this cause he is a nice guy but this class was so hard maybe i didnt have enough math background but i took all the pre rec. for the class and i got a D!! i studied more for this class then any other class i have ever took i was thinking about being a math and business major until this class!! make sure your prepared!

at first the class was easy... but as time went on it got really confusing. the review he gives you for test have nothing to do with the actual test. he expects you to remember everything through out your math career. good luck if you take this class. i did good in trig and calc in high school and i got a D in math 130. & i did the work and studied

The guy is a genious however his style of teaching is quite hard to pick up on if you don't really know your stuff prior to going into the class... He teaches in a way where he expects you to know the stuff prior so instead of teaching he's more or less giving an overview on how to go about whatever it might be you're learning

Avoid Boyd! He is the only teacher that I would stay away from. Diff eq, boyd->F; hannick ->A Boyd teaches you mathematica and diff eq at the same time; way too much to take in. To sum it up boyd has a "funny"??? cartoon illustration in his office of a kid saying he needs to try yet another school because he again failed. That's just wrong!

Perfect math teacher if you are going into an engineering major. The world is changing to using computers for everything so he uses them. I would not recommend taking Calc I or II with him b/c you will not learn much. Great for upper level classes though, open notes,book, and computer. If you like using computers, take him!

He knows what he is talking about, however does a terrible job conveying it. He relies on the computers too much to the point where you learn how to do it, but miss out on what the concepts mean. For example, he may tell you how to do Green's Theorem , but won't explain what you just found.
