Very sweet lady. Few assignments out of class but make sure to fulfill requirements as she is somewhat of a tough grader. No tests. Definitely take her if you have the option to.

LOVE her. People like to take advantage of the fact that she makes assignments easier than they need be (like allowing rewrites and pushing due dates) but it's only because she's a genuinely nice person. You can tell she just wants her students to learn and it's less about making them conform to her style. If you have a chance to take her class,do.

Lay is a great professor. She is such a sweet and charismatic lady that cares so much about her students. All you need to do is participate and write the essays. She offers extra credit and will provide feedback and a certain amount of rewrites for her papers. She will offer different styles of papers such as a comparison or scientific. NO Tests!

Probably the nicest professor I've had at Hofstra. Her class is very laid back and slow paced and she will almost always offer extensions on assignments if you come to her asking for one, but beware she is a bit of a tough grader on essays and other written assignments.

Ethna Lay is one of the worst professors I have ever experienced. Her lessons make no sense at all and do not connect day to day. I basically had to go in everyday without any expectations because class was different everyday. Her assignments are repetitive, so get used to writing about the same prompt Grades subjectively. Not helpful with any info

She isnt very clear about what she wants from assignments and when they are due. She gives little feedback. You will blog, you will have to comment on other students work and they will coment on yours.

Love love love Dr. Lay! Took her for intro and then again for advanced. She's sometimes unclear, but I have definitely become more confident and improved in my writing because of her.

Professor Lay is meant for abstract people like herself. She is inspirational in the ways that she teaches vague concepts in weird ways, and she makes every class hilarious. She can be a bit confusing for people who do not understand sarcasm and her weird techniques but the plus side is that her class is always interesting.

Quizzes every single class! In addition to that, 4 blog posts a month and the final was consisted of 100 questions. She will penalized students for missing classes. No syllabus,so you don't know what to prioritize on. She is a great person, but a very tough grader! She DOES NOT curve. Not recommending taking her if you taking more than 5 classes.

She's nice, her class is pretty easy, and she corrects your papers so you can resubmit them. The only thing is that I was sometimes not sure about what we were supposed to do on the assignments.

Dr. Lay makes the most boring class at least a little interesting. She's a sweetheart and cares deeply about her students. There are papers but most of the work is done through blogging. It's a really easy class and she knows it. She makes it impossible NOT to get an A, you have infinite rewrites if necessary.

Dr. Lay is all over the place. She offers a syllabus but fails to follow it, and although she is a writing professor, little to no time is spent actually writing. She may require tweets or blogging.

Nice lady. Not clear on directions but you'll see whats expected once you see examples. 5 papers AKA "projects". Uses the computer a lot and expects you to open up a twitter and blogger account. Rarely replies to emails. Lets you do rewrites to improve your grade; even quizzes. Kooky, but that's whats fun about class. Nudges you to succeed

She's a very nice person and is always willing to help you, but her directions can be confusing and annoyingly vague. The textbook we used for the second half of the semester was soul drainingly boring. Not a hard marker at all though, she usually finds the positives in EVERY paper, even the crappiest, so don't worry.

Dr. Lay is a good professor to take if you're willing to think outside of the box and put the work in. Her teaching methods are a bit unusual but they can help. You are required to visit the writing center which also helps. There are 3 papers and some homework. Overall I enjoyed her. She's a little cooky but nice and cares about your grade

honestly a terrible professor for an amazing subject. writing composition 2 should be a fun course, learning how to write and fix your writing in a fun, creative way.. instead i found myself surfing the internet and writing the papers the night before. i do not recommend taking lay, only if you're really abstract like her.

Dr. Lay made me actually enjoy writing. I had her for WSC 1, which I thought would be my least interesting class but I actually enjoyed going. She is a little crazy but in a good way and is a very fair grader. Very easy and interesting class.

Terrible professor. Nazi mentality when it comes to attendance. I had her at 8 a.m. If you try to approach her on her own time (after class) don't expect much at all. I'd say 35% of my class was forced to withdrawal or drop the course. Don't take her.
