Honestly, this guy is kinda rude. He teaches a solid class and is a good professor. Be ready to do a lot of work. Office hours do not really help, he just brushes you off and sends you away.

Class is really interesting and Professor White is really knowledgable about what he teaches about. He is a really nice guy, and although his class is not super easy, if you work hard you will get an A. Probably my favorite economics class I have taken at Rutgers.

Fin. Hist. really opened my eyes on how the Fed reacts to (or fails to react to) crises. Great to know and fully understand money supply and open market ops. A ton of reading, but if you do them before class and comment/answer question about reading in class, Prof. White will favor you. He a smart man; my favorite class I've ever taken at RU.

He knows his stuff but the class itself is really dry. Be prepared for a lot of reading (papers every, books and slides) and you'll need to present figures at least 5 times for full participation credit. Exams are pretty straightforward and are based off the slides/papers that you read. He does interrupt people when they talk which is annoying.

I took him knowing he would be difficult, but I wanted something different. Holy cow. Lots of reading, and really keeps you on your toes. Huge curve, but don't rely on it. Must present on graphs/tables in reading, and he will cut you off and interrupt. He's also a bit scatter brain if you go to his office hours. Got a B, tears were involved.

You have to do readings before every class. The readings are extremely long and dry but you just have to understand the main points. His exams are all fill in the blank, short answer, and an essay. There is participation and he checks your name on the attendance sheet every time you participate for points. But there is a HUGEEEEE curve at the end

I took both financial AND euro mon. history same semester: not recommended. However, I would def recommend taking either. He expects his students to have a FIRM grasp of Money and Banking concepts. Some lessons are dry and he will not slow down b/c so much material, so you need to have full attention during class. Interesting and you learn much.

You have to go to every class. A lot of material to know! You will have readings due every class, sometimes they can be more than and extremely long. However, if you do the readings go to class and pay attention, you should have all the material you need for exams. Plus online power points to take to class. All readings online. One Essay on a book.

Do not rely on the curve or essay. Curve depends on your face and essay is never sincerely read.

Course made deliberately difficult by carelessness. Fails teaching or focus on essentials. Contrarily, enjoys misguiding on what to focus. Vague exams & curve. Makes up your grade in his mind. I have had difficult professors, but never an insincere team of TA and professor. Likes to keep hype as difficult course. Never on time for appointments.

Attendance AND class participiation are required. A ton of reading: 2 books, multiple long essay articles, and a 3rd book you pick from his list and write a 8 to 10 page paper on. Knows his stuff, and has a fun personality...real flamboyant/energetic/friendly.Curve is HUGE since exams are hard. Got a C, wasn't really trying. Liked him.

This guy is extremely knowledgeable of his profession. There is a ton of articles to read but you actually learn so much about banking in general. It helped me understand the Wall Street Journal more in depth. It is not easy however and there will be a huge curve

Class was harder than I would have liked but there is a seriously hefty curve. If you have an interest in economics it is very informative. If you go to class he hooks you up. His tests are real specific but nothing an all night cram sesh and addy binge cant cure.

White is highly qualified and very intelligent. Sure you have to write a bit and read a lot, but the course should be interesting to people who actually enjoy their major. You can take the easy route in college, but nothing will make you seem smarter than having an economics conversation with prospective employers. Don't cheat yourself. Good prof.

Avoid this class, because there are much easier upper-level Econ electives available. You have to read the bulk of two books along with a bunch of long articles, and the exams are all open-ended/essay format so you can't really BS your way through them. You also have to read a separate book and write an 8-10 page paper.

You need to go to class every time and take Detailed notes while reading 3-4 hours a week at the minimum. Its almost a part-time job. Great to learn economics (srsly) but not worth the time. Take it only if you do not have a social life. Avoid if you do.

Don't get me wrong, the class is fairly challenging and fast paced, but he's a good teacher and makes sure you understand the concepts. Exams are open-ended and fill in the blanks. If you pay attention in lecture and take good notes you'll do fine.
