Comment:
The word to describe Mrs. Newman is awesome. She's really a good teacher and a decent person. Nowadays nonacademic and lazy students who flunked all of their classes or were socially promoted in high school are allowed to go to college. This explains why there is so much whining from students who are lazy and just want to be entertained.

She is one of the most boring teachers at Towson University. I dropped the class on the first day. On top of that, she was my advisor. Although, I would rather have her as a advisor instead of a teacher. I would advice students to avoid this class at all costs.

Dr. Newman is a horrible professor. She likes to hear herself talk and if you have an opinion about what you read, she is quick to say that you're wrong. She made me hate a class that I thought I would love. I have avoided her like the plague and found classes that were out of schedule, just so I wouldn't have to take another class with her.

I absolutely LOVED Professor Newman!! Her comments on papers were appropriate and constructive. She graded fairly. She does enjoy hearing herself talk, however, if you actually listen to her, you will enjoy listening to her as well. She is constantly available through email (I think I emailed her questions every day!)

I was in Mrs. Newman's class over ten years ago. Mrs. Newman was definitely one of my favorite teachers, and I never got to thank her for being so awesome. She was extremely clear in her instruction and set up the class so that the students would write a paper about a selection and discuss it in a Socratic Seminar type of discussion.

She is a terrible teacher. We had so many paper and nobody understood her grading system because she graded everything with checks and check pluses. Class was very boring and she mumbled a lot. It was hard to pay attention. Do NOT take this class.

An extremely boring teacher who enjoys to hear herself talk rather than initiate engaging discussions. Tough grader on papers but she gives you a chance to edit them after her comments. Just do the changes she suggests and you usually get an A. Avoid her if possible.

Her class was not very difficult but we had to write a ton of papers that in the end did not count very much towards our overall grade. I would not take another class with this professor. This class requires alot of time for a 200 level course.

I felt like Dr. Newman was not very helpful on the papers. She writes more criticism that is not very helpful, and a few of her comments were offensive. If you are in love with the Medieval world then this is perfect. She seems like she lives in that world, and not the 21st century. A lot of the students in my class felt the same struggling to pass

Professor Newman is fine at teaching. Do your reading and prepare properly for tests, papers, and class. If you're not getting an A or B on papers most likely you suck at writing and should get a tutor instead of always justifying why the teacher made you fail.

Surprise! I got an A. So everyone saying it can't be done, it can. Pay attention. Actually read what she says to read. Make an effort. I'm sick of whiny non-majors or lazy English majors complaining about good professors.

worst class ever.. the class started out with about 30 students and ended the semester with 6. you will never get an A in the class. you have to write her way. if you are not a strong writer do not take this class. all papers no tests. and you will never get out early and she never misses class

BORING...do not take this professor...only her opinion is correct no matter how much sense your alternative opinion makes...you will never get out the littlest bit early or have class cancelled...writing and reading intensive regardless of low level nature of the course...will be avoiding any classes taught by her at all costs in the future

Tough grader but very fair-always gave students ample feedback and an opportunity to revise thier papers and resubmit. A little quirky which is slightly distracting but very nice. Lots of class discussion which kept things fairly interseting (otherwise lectures were pretty boring.) I don't reccomend her--but she's not horrible, either.

Very nice, understanding and helpful as long as you approach her with your problem. She has a real passion for British Literature and tries as hard as she can to get people interested. The writing topics are sometimes vague and it can be very boring and detrimental to you if you don't keep up with the readings. So again, ask questions.
