He does online lectures, so you have a ton of videos to watch. You have quizzes each class and do the chem activities don't get lazy, they help! NEVER SKIP. You will fail the final and there is no curve. He tries to be helpful and is nice. His lab is the best and weighs heavily!

If you absolutely hate doing homework and showing up to class, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! For me, however, I found his class to be perfect for me because a large portion of your grade is determined through homework and daily quizzes. I made B's and a couple C's on his tests and finished with an A in the class. If you show up prepared, you will be fine.

Dr. Hardcastle is great! Many people say that he's tough, however, you get to retake every test and he gives daily quizzes that are all extra credit. His lectures are all online so if you fall behind during class you can easily get caught back up. I did not even open my book all year. I would definitely take him again.

Nice guy but since all homework is online on a crappy program, you have to fight for a grade there. The class now is only useful for attendance points and the possibility of bonus from the quiz. There is no lecture, just lots of packets. Everything is on videos. I can't learn this way. If you know chem, you'll be fine. If not... Try to avoid.

had him for gen chem 1. he is a very hard teacher because he goes super quick. once he goes over it in class 1 time, don't expect to be relearning it in class again because he will expect you to have learned it on your own. I have visited his office hours and he is helpful outside class. you also get to retake tests, though not the same questions.

Great sense of humor, excellent teacher, truly cares about his students, gave great advice regarding chemistry and otherwise... I'm not sure why his other reviews are so bad. He isn't a fan of slackers so that could be it. Do your homework and show up for class and you will pass easily

I LOVE Dr. Hardcastle! He's really funny, and he knows a lot about chemistry. If you took AP Chem in high school or you have some chemistry background, this class should be easy. He teaches his class assuming that his students have had chem classes before, so if you haven't, it could be hard. He goes really fast, but he gives LOADS of bonus.
