Dr Bauer completely changed the way I look at the world. He's (by far) one of the most under-rated professors out there. If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. If you actually want to learn something about yourself and the physical world, then buckle in!

He'll fry your brain and make you think, but it's worth it. Once you get it you think about everything a little differently and that *light bulb* moment is an awesome feeling. Don't give him a reason to call on you because you will never win any argument you even think of having with him. He's got a better Win Ratio than Floyd, Money Mayweather.

Will not remember your name, but if you sit and try to understand his logic it does make some sense. He will tear you apart if you disagree with him in class but he is knowledgable. He is extremely intelligent and while sometimes his lectures get boring his homework sometimes is my favorite to do. He's very smart and will memorization is KEY.

Assumption College doesn't exist, Ratemyprofessors.com does not exist. This room does not exist. Words are just sounds that we interpret as meaning something... Weird class, weird dude. Better off taking this course with another professor.

A lot of people complain about him, so I was really hesitant about taking his section. However, this guy does really have some interesting views and really made me think about the world around me. Yeah he'll piss you off sometimes and confuse you. But I really like his class, it's one of the few I've had at assumption that really makes you think.

Bauer is the last genius at Assumption. Since Pulchalsky! Period. Amen.. He will challenge your interpretation of the world and the meaning of your own existence. Something the middle class greyhounds need. You should not be allowed to graduate from Assumption unless you had at least one Bauer class. Nostrodamus Nay! Bauer Yay!

Prof. Bauer is a very amusing and witty person. He is not always clear, but he will always help you try to understand if you contact him outside of class. He spends class time trying to get you to rethink what you believe. Truly interested in what colleges label as Philosophy? Take his class. Looking for a lazy, no-participation easy A? Stay away.

Dr. Bauer is 78 and should be retired. He is a nice man, and his goal is to change his students world view. However, the class is hard, and you absolutely have to think his way or else you will fail.

Dr. Bauer is not a teacher for those who have grown comfortable with their worldview. He will challenge you and some of your most deeply held beliefs. That being said he is a True Philosopher and my life is better for having taken his classes.

It's been 9 years since I took Fred's class. I teach philosophy courses of my own now, and I find myself thinking about what I learned in his class every day. I see some people are unhappy with his unorthodox style, but I urge readers to disregard these complaints. Fred will help you think about what's really important (and it's not your GPA).

He wants you to think, but gets mad when you don't think his way. He literally fought with students in the class calling them, "naive" because they didn't believe what he was saying. I could find something a lot better to do with 50 minutes of my life. Waste of a class, and my money.

"This book does not exist. You do not exist. The world does not exist." If you enjoy this sort of logic, maybe this class is for you. If you live on planet Earth and believe the tree you're standing in front of DOES exist, go elsewhere.

Extremely "out there" subject. no other class is even close to his. everything he says is so hard to understand because its just so ridiculous. his tests are awful and his paper is comprehensive, and also awful.

My first college course ever was his Intro to Philosophy. It was difficult because he challenges you to scrutinize your beliefs. Dr. Bauer is a man of extreme intellectual integrity who is simply trying to figure out what it means to be a human being. He is dedicated to helping students become better thinkers. Great man. Great class.

Had him for Phil. Psychology. One of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. He does use sarcasm and ridicule as a teaching tool, but it works, at least I thought so. I really enjoyed the class and it did not drop my GPA, as others have insisted. He preached his own philosophy but in the context of so many others philosophers. Good Prof.
