Professor Krantz has high expectations from his students. You must read the texts, bring them to class, and arrive on time with a clear mind, ready to participate if asked. If you strive to fulfill these obligations, then you will leave this course with a solid foundational knowledge of Western culture up to the Scientific Revolution.

Prof. Krantz is a great teacher. Sometimes takes detours and very rarely gets to the end of the text but the detours are in some ways better than the easy road. You'll learn a lot if you take his class because he cares about he is invested in his student's education.

One of the best teachers I have had the pleasure of meeting. He has set the bar for all my future history teachers. University is about higher education and he brings that point home. You will learn more with him then with any other hisory classes. Tough work but worth it in the end. :)

Brilliant lecturer. He comes off as being pretentious, but is really quite nice and enjoys the fact that there are still some people in the world who actually like to read. As for the Liberal Arts college, he's not the real problem...

When I saw the course outline, I had a panick attack. However, I learned much more in his class than all my others put together. His class requires work to be done, but at least there are no suprised on the exam. He was also very understanding when I had a family incident. A nice guy.
