This course builds off of ENG230. Tests are open notes, however the notes aren't entirely helpful. The textbook was used only a few times. He's a sweet guy, but gets off topic very easily and talks about anything but the confusing material. Good luck.

Dr. Molholt is a really cool guy. He's hilarious and provides an environment condusive to learning. 4 tests and loads of extra credit. Attendance is not mandatory, but you dont need the book if your attendance is great, as he provides all of the notes. Tests are open book, but make sure you're there to get what's needed!

Took this class during summer session and it's a lot of information in a very short amount of time. He set a steady pace and was flexible when students were having a hard time understanding. he seems to genuinely want his students to succeed. Very enjoyable personality as well.

Dr. Molholt was a WONDERFUL professor! I had him for Intro to Ling this past semester and loved the class. Molholt makes what could be a super complex and confusing subject fun, and his passion and qualification to be teaching the subject show. I recommend showing up to every/most classes and taking notes - all test are open notes.

Hands down one of the best teachers ever. He makes sure everyone in the class understands the material. He focuses on practical use. BOOK IS USELESS!!! He will give you handouts with exactly what you need to know. Plus, he gave us a pizza party :) You really do learn a lot from his class.

Gary is the sweetest man ever! He came off a little strange at first but he is really funny and chill. He teaches you the practical use of linguistics, not a bunch of theories and history. Tests are open book, some take home. The only bad thing is the entire class is only worth 100 points. Don't buy the book.

When I first walked in I thought Milton from Office Space was teaching the class. But this guy is truly awesome. Very easy going, tell stories from all around the world, and keeps things simple. Give take home tests and can use notes on others. Definitely take if you want a good class.

I was so scared the first day since I SUCK at grammatical skills and then an old guy with bottle thick glasses and dry humor walked in the class, but you have to give Molholt a chance. Within two weeks the entire class cracks up with him, and everything he taught made sense! Great Professor.

I went into linguistics being worried I would do poorly, but Dr. Moholt made it really easy. Just go to class and take good notes because most of the tests are either take home or open book. If you do bad he offers extra credit. He really wants his students to do well and understand the material. Plus, he's really funny.

He's a nice guy. He really likes his grammar and punctuation but its a 120 class. VERY easy just go to class, write the essay and he will let you out of the final. You only write 4 papers, no tests. Don't bother with buying the books.
