Hes notorious for being bad. Instead of taking the lecture time to explain to us the concepts directly, he went off on several story-telling tangents, then jumped to strings of thought that you wouldnt be able to understand without a solid foundation, which he didnt help provide. Dont take his class if you actually want to learn.

His class is unnecessarily hard. Never expect to have a clear logic through the whole course. Never take his course again.

Be ready to really study on your own for this class. His way of teaching did not work for me. He went off-topic all the times and I was very confused, did not know what was really important. He sat in his chair and talked all day, and never once stood up to write on the board. I also felt intimidated to ask during class as he wouldputmeonthe spot.

Since your grade is based of three test you have to make she to do good on all of them. Had a C in the class for the first 2 but then the final which was worth about 44% of your grade came around which was full of confusing questions. NO help just tells random stories in class that makes it even more confusing

Professor Galles is considered the gatekeeper for Econ and Business majors. As such, he takes great pride in upholding standards rather than engage in grade inflation. I resented this as an intro student, but came to appreciate it in the quality of his upper division courses. His classroom "antics" are illustrations only. Read the book before class

I have never written a review for a professor, but the experience I had in this class made me feel like I should warn incoming students. If you have the option to take this class in the summer or abroad do so because Professor Galles' Macro class is unnecessarily difficult. Lectures are impossible to follow and tests are super confusing.

I'm not the type that has many regrets in life. I normally think "Well, what's done is done." But, after hearing that there was another professor who taught this class, I REALLY regretted taking it with Professor Galles. His lectures are incredibly hard to follow, and his tests make or break your grade. All you can do is read the text and handouts.

Go to every class, take notes, know you won't do well on his tests even if you are extremely intelligent. No choice really for incoming Freshman he's the only one teaching Econ. Good news when the class is over, be glad you won't have to ever take him again.

His class is straight lecture the entire period. Be prepared to take notes and read the book. Don't expect anything higher than a C. But he curves so if you just show up, you get a C.

Professor Galles is a brilliant man, his problem is he simply cannot teach. All the knowledge of economics is sitting in his head, but he is unable to successfully relay the information from his head to students in a way that is coherent and understandable. The textbook is your best bet, but even then the tests are quite difficult.

His tests are curved based on 30 years of the class' history, and A's are very hard to come by. He will loath you if you go to his office hours, but still go. Do all this, you will learn more than you wish. He is very hard to deal with; he'll never let you finish your sentence, he'll ramble, etc. You must be intelligent and willing to work hard.

Prof. Galles is a more than fair professor. Do the readings he assigns which are not extensive and go over the handouts he gives out and you will do fine. Curves his test 10% which is more than fair. Go to his office hours if you are confused, they help a ton. He is a bit arrogant but I found it to be refreshing from the more dull profs.

The worst professor at Pepperdine. I understand stuff from the textbook reading but he just confuses everyone in class. He goes off topic all the time and barely focuses his tests on what he teaches in class. Can't escape his 211 class, but never take him for upper-div classes if you can.

This class takes a lot of effort. For econ-minded students, it's not too bad, but for students who don't conceptualize well, it will be tough. Expect challenging tests and thorough, but sometimes repetitive lectures. His class weeds out business students from econ students, and is challenging. Always available to give extra help. Loved this class.

His class is not that boring but it's definitely difficult. I would say this is the hardest class I've taken at Pepperdine, but the tests were not the hardest tests I've taken at Pepperdine. The tests were very difficult in terms of wording and the choices he gives. They're all multiple choice and they're the sole determinant of your grade.

Gary Galles has a tangential problem. He literally goes on random tangents that make you lose site of his lecture's goal. Because of this, he will drastically curve his test... he KNOWS his students don't get it (Im talking 42/100 = C on tests). He knows his stuff, we cant deny him that. However, his teaching methods will leave you bewildered.

Gary Galles is an absolutely brilliant man. Though he may have very firm views and teach a difficult class his passion for the subject far surpasses all else. All his bad reviews are from people who did not go to class which is around 80% of the kids. If you read the book and go to class an A is in reach. He also is always willing to help.

Dr. Galles is a great professor who offered college level learning for his students. Yes, his class was hard, but not impossible. Just read the book and come to class and you'll be fine, which many students failed to do. I kept up with the reading and always came to class and I ended up with a B...which is pretty good for this class!
